DUST-PAN.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.V 292,213, dated January 22, 1884.

Application filed November 13, 1883.

To a/ZZ whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SARAHT. FISHER, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Springield, in the countyof Clarke and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dust-Pans, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention has relation to improvements in vdust-pans; anditconsists inthe construction and novel arrangement of the same, as will be hereinafter more fully explained, and particularly pointed out in the claim appended.

The annexed drawings, to which reference is made, fully illustrate my invention, in which Figure l represents a vertical sectional view. Fig. 2 is a plan view; and Fig. 3 is also a plan View, showing the device inblank form.

Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates the dust-pan, which is formed of a single piece of metal and bent into' shape to form the letter V. The lowerV portion, a, is at and extends forward beyond the mouth of the pan, and the portion b is bent forward to form the top of the same. At the sides of the pan the same has wings c, which have the straight edge d and rearwardlydnclincd edge e, whicli,when bent into (No model.)

a vertical position, form sides to the pan,and on each side of the base of the same are provided lips f, that are bent downwardly on each side of the pan and secured to the inclined side pieces. About the center of the top of the pan is secured a vertical tube, g,which is designed to receive a long handle,by means of whichthe pan may be used by the operator Awithout the latter stooping.

It will be observed from the above descrip tion that by my construction 'of the pan the same is Vformed of a single piece of metal, the

base, top, and sides being stamped or struck j up at the same time, thus producing an improved article of manufacture.

Having describedV my invention, what I claim, and desire to securefby Letters Patent, isl As an improved article of manufacture, the herein-described dust-pan, consisting of base a, top b, sides c, and lips f,the Whole adapted to be bent in the form described, and provided with the vertical tube g, to receive a handle, as and for the purpose set forth.
