Description
United States Patent STABILIZATION OF LIQUID ORGANIC CHLORINE COMPOUNDS Leighton S. McDonald, Freeport, and Harris G. Hughes,
Angleton, Tex., assignors to The Dow Chemical Company, Midland, Mich., a corporation of Delaware No Drawing. Application November 6, 1957 Serial No. 694,718
5 Claims. (Cl. 260-6525) Eleven 200 milliliter aliquoits of trichloroethylene containing various amounts of triphenyl stibine were heated at the reflux temperature (86.7 C.) for 16 and 48 hours, respectively. During this period, oxygen gas was continuously bubbled through the solution. The acidity of the solutions was taken before and after the heating period and the final color of the solution recorded. The following table reports the results of observations made at the times indicated.
Wt. Percent Triphenyl Reflux Initial Final Stibine Time, Acidity Acidity, Final Color hrs. p.p.m.
