Be it known that I, Janus A. GHARNLEY, of Providence, in lthe State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Machine for Engraving Vire; and I do hereby declare that the following specification, taken in connection with the drawings making a part of the same, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof. My machine is designed for the engraving of wire to be used in the ornamentation of jewelry and other articles; and it consists in the construction, combination, and operation of a pair of engraving-rollers, pinions, endless" screw, blocks, set-screws, and guides, as hereinafter described. y
'Ihe engraving or impressing of any ornamental figure or pattern upon small wire which vis itself to be used in the ornamentation of other articles, if done by hand, would require an amount of time and labor that would render its manufacture utterly mpraoticable.
The object of my invention is to overcome this difficulty and to manufacture ornamental wire with such rapidity, and consequently so cheap, that it will be available for the ornamentation of a great variety of articles.
In the drawings, a is the frame of the machine, which is secured to a suitable bed.
