1 Claim. (Cl. 35-23) This invention relates to simulated rosaries adapted for ready and immediate use, but instead of the rosary being provided in the common form of a string of beads it is provided in the form of a plate having raised above the flat upper surface thereof a replica of a rosary in any desired outline simulating a string of rosary beads with spaced medallions and, if desired, a pendant chain.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a plate such as set forth above in combination with a pocket wallet including in the wallet on one side or half thereof an open pocket in which the plate is slidably registrable, the said pocket being provided with a cut-out therethrough which leaves an open window giving access both visibly and to the fingers of the user so that the fingers may be run across the thus exposed simulated rosary.

The above as well as additional objects will be clarified in the following description wherein reference numerals refer to like-numbered parts in the accompanying drawing. It is to be noted that the drawing is intended solely for the purpose of illustration and that it is therefore neither desired nor intended to limit the invention necessarily to any or all of the exact details shown except insofar as they may be deemed essential to the invention.

Referring briefly to the drawing,

Fig. 1 is a top plan view of a closed wallet embodying an element of the present invention.

Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the wallet in open position, showing also the rosary plate embodying another element of the present invention in top plan view and in position within the frame pocket of the wallet.

Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.

Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 10 indicates a pocket wallet comprising the two sides or flaps 11 and 12 foldable about a median line 13 into the closed position shown in Fig. 1. The flap 11 of the wallet may be provided with any suitable pocket or pockets or compartments as may be desired and which will not be herein clarified as the same form no part of the present invention.

The flap 12 of the wallet comprises the outer wall 14 of the wallet and an inner wall 15 secured, as by stitching I ite States Patent 2,897,606 Patented Aug. 4, 1959 16, against the inner face of the wall 14 around three edges of the

14 and 15, that is, the top and bottom edges and the end edge of the wallet, leaving unstitched and therefore separated from the wall 14 the inner edge 17 of the wall 15. As a consequence, the

space between the outer wallet wall and the wall 15 constitutes an entrance 18 into the pocket thus formed between the

walls

14 and 15.

A plate 19 of any suitable material, of rectangular outline like the outlines of the

walls

14 and 15, is slidably registrable in the said pocket through the entrance 18. A raised or embossed simulated rosary 20 is provided on the exposed surface of the plate 19, in any outline or conformation.

In order that the raised simulated rosary may be accessible to the fingers of the user, the wall 15 is cut away throughout the greater portion of its area, as shown at 21, to provide a large rectangular framed opening through the wall 15. As shown in Fig. 3, the raised portions of the embossed rosary extend upward through the window frame and thus provide stops to prevent the plate from slipping out of position or out of the pocket through the entrance slit 18, while fingering the rosary or handling the device.

Thus, the instant invention may be used quietly and silently by a person under any circumstances, merely by taking out the wallet, opening it, and then running the fingers over the embossed representation of a rosary.

I claim:

In combination with a wallet having a pocket formed therein and having two opposed walls, a rectangular plate bearing on one surface thereof an embossed representation of a rosary and having the other surface thereof smooth, one of the walls of the pocket having a large rectangular portion thereof cut away to provide a window whence the edges of said one of the walls surrounding the window provide a rectangular frame for the window, said plate having a length and width in excess of the length and width of the window, said embossed representation having a length and width smaller than the length and width of the window, the plate being positioned in the pocket with the smooth surface thereof positioned against the other wall of the pocket and with said embossed representation positioned within and exposed through the window, the thickness of the plate through at least some of the elements of the embossed representation near the edges of the plate being greater than the distance between the circumferential edge of the frame and said other of the walls whence said elements project through the window.
