8 Claims. (CI. 87-27) The present invention relates to a comb for guiding the bobbin carriages in bobbinet machines for the production of tulle, curtain or lace fabric by the twisting of bobbin threads around warp threads.
The first object of my invention is an improved comb sector the guide plates and base guide inserts of which are mounted and fastened in an advantageous manner.
A further object is a new method of making the improved comb sectors.
Other objects will be mentioned in the following description and claims.
In the drawing there is shown a new comb sector as an example.
Fig. l is a sectional view of a comb for guiding the bobbin carriage of a lace making machine.

In a lace making machine or bobbinet machine there are two comb bars 11 and 12, on which are mounted a plurality of comb sectors. Such comb sectors consist of a number of guide plates 13 and of base guide inserts 14. These guide plates 13 and base guide inserts 14 are disposed alternately in such a way that always a guide plate 13 and a base guide insert 14 form a bed for the carriage 15 of the bobbin 16. The carriage 15 is moved in that bed by means of the axis 17 which is driven to and fro in a known manner.
According to the fineness of the machine more or less guide plates 13 and base guide inserts 14 are united to a comb sector of a desired width. The guide plates 13 and base guide inserts 14 of such a comb sector are held together by means of screws 18 and nuts 19. In order to avoid projecting parts the screws 18 are formed as sunk screws. They are inserted into the holes 20 of the guide plates 13 and into the holes 21 of the base guide inserts 14 and screwed into the nuts 19. Some guide plates 13 and base guide inserts 14 in the middle of the comb sector have tour-edged holes 22 into which the square plug nuts 19 are inserted. By this way the nuts 19 are prevented from turning, and the packed guide plates and base guide inserts get a reliable stability by means of the said screws 18 and nuts 19. I
The lower faces of the comb sectors fit to the comb bars 11 and 12 respectively. Each comb sector is provided with a bore 23 and on the upper back part of each comb sector there is fitted a cover plate 24, also having a bore 25. Through the bores 23 and 25 there are screws 26 to fasten the comb sectors on the comb bars. The cover plates 24 are provided with overhanging bevelled edges 27 in order to give the guide plates and base guide inserts a secure lateral hold.
Instead of using screws 18 and nuts 19 other clamping means may be used, i.e. the guide plates and base guide inserts may be held together by means of rivets.
Finally the guide plates and base guide inserts of a comb sector may be united by gluing. For that purpose a suitable metal-glue is employed.
A further especial advantage of my invention is to make the guide plates 13 and the base guide inserts 14 of metal or plastic by molding or stamping process. If the molding process is used, the entire comb sector may be made of plastic in one piece.
An advantageous success of my invention is the easy replacement of individual damaged guide plates or base guide inserts. A comb sector, which has one or more damaged guide plates or base guide inserts, is dismounted; the damaged parts are removed; new proper parts get inserted and after mounting the comb sector is reset into the machine.
After having explained my invention I claim:
1. A comb sector for a bobbinet machine having a movable carriage comprising first and second planar guide plates arranged in alternate sequence, said first guide plates being spaced by the thickness of said second guide plates and defining at one side a bed surface for the movable carriage, said second guide plates being spaced at said side from the bed surface, and a base member detachably supporting said guide plates, the outer plates of said sequence defining round holes adapted to accommodate bolts for locking the plates together, the inner plates of said sequence defining square holes adapted to accommodate nuts for engaging the bolts.
2. A comb sector for a bobbinet machine having a movable carriage comprising first and second planar guide plates arranged in alternate sequence, said first guide plates being spaced by the thickness of said second guide plates and defining at one side a bed surface for the movable carriage, said second guide plates being spaced at said side from the bed surface, a base member detachably supporting said guide plates, a cover plate, spaced flanges depending from said cover plate for embracing the sequence of guide plates, said guide plates cooperatively defining at least one hole perpendicular to said cover plate, and nut and bolt means accommodated in the perpendicular hole for locking said guide and cover plates together.
3. A comb sector as claimed in claim 2. for operation with a comb bar, said nut and bolt means fastening said guide plates to said comb bar.
4. A comb sector as claimed in claim 2 wherein said second guide plates define arcuate surfaces for supporting an arcuate portion of the carriage, said first guide plates defining arcuate surfaces spaced Irom those of said second guide plates.
5. A comb sector as claimed in claim 4 wherein said first and second guide plates comprise substantially identical base sections abutting said comb bar.
6. A comb sector as claimed in claim 5 wherein said first and second guide plates are integral.
7. A comb sector as defined in claim 5, wherein said first and second guide plates are joined together in alternating sequence.
8. A comb sector as claimed in claim 5, wherein said comb sector is fabricated as an integral structure.
