This invention relates to a plant for removing broken thread ends from spinning and similar machines.
It is an object of the present invention to provide means affording quick and easy removal of broken thread ends, lint, and other foreign matter from spinning and like machines.
The invention more specifically contemplates construction or an arrangement wherein a suction tube provided with spaced apart suction nozzles or openings is arranged and extends transversely to the run of the threads in a spinning machine.
The cross-section of the suction nozzles are preshaped and are tapered towards and at an angle to the drawing frames and the threads running from the end rollers of said frames. Furthermore, the aforesaid tube faces an underclearer and is suppported and linked for pivotal movement thereat.
It is therefore another object of the present invention to provide means conductive to a very efficacious and adjustable suction construction of the aforesaid type which permits location of said suction nozzles very close to the threads, which run from the frame of the machine, whereby broken threads may be safely and directly withdrawn where breakage of such threads occurs and under optimum aerodynamic conditions.
Another object of the invention is to provide means facilitating a very efficient pear-shaped configuration of the head of the nozzles so that due to suction action broken threads may be conveniently disposed of.
Further objects of the invention will become apparent as the following description thereof proceeds, which is directed to a device for facilitating removal of broken threads, lint etc. in spinning machines, which device is characterized by its great simplicity of construction and convenience of installation at relatively low cost.
These, together with the various ancillary objects and advantages of the invention are attained, a preferred embodiment of the invention being shown in the accompanying drawing, by way of example, wherein:
Fig. l is a side elevation and partly sectional view of a device embodying the present invention constructed for use in connection with a spinning machine;
Fig. 2 is a front elevational view of the device of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a top plan view of a portion of the device, parts being shown in section.
With continuing reference to the accompanying drawing wherein like reference numerals designate similar parts throughout the several views, it will be noted that thread 1 issues at 2 between a fluted cylinder 3 and an elastic saddle 4 of the spinning machine.
In accordance with the concepts of the present invention broken threads, as well as lint or other foreign matter are adapted to be drawn into oval nozzle openings 6 of a pear-shaped nozzle conduit or head 7, extending in crosswise direction to bearing brackets and positioned as can be best seen in Fig. 1 immediately adjacent location 2 from whence thread or threads 1 are guided in a generally downward direction according to the arrow A.
According to the invention a cross-section of the suction conduit is inwardly curved on its side facing the 2,893,196 Patented July '1, 1959 ICC underclearer. 27 of the lower front drawing; roller 3, while its contour on the side facing, the: running thread 1 approaches the latter and conforms to the same? like a curve to its tangent. This permits the location of the suction openings 6 very close to the points where the threads 1 run out of the drawing frame while retaining the nnderclearer 27, so that broken thread ends or the like will be safely seized directly behind the points where breakage has taken place so that the suction effect occurs under optimum aerodynamic conditions.
Thead 1 issuing at location 2 will be deviated in case of breakage due to suction action effective via conduit 7 associated thereto, thence through pipe 8 which is telescopically connected to a bend or knee 9 of conduit 10.
Exhaust or suction channel 10 extends over the entire length of the spinning machine. Conduit 7 is arranged between bearing brackets 26 of each drawing frame, hence the tubular nozzle openings 6 in spite of underclearer 27 to which conduit 7 is linked by means of lever 29 comes to lie quite close to the aforesaid location 2 where the respective thread leaves the drawing frame.
As may further be seen from Figs. 1 and 3 underclearer 27 is mounted rearwardly of the guide means 3, 4. Lever 29 terminally and pivotally secures said nozzle head 7 to said underclearer 27 whereby the nozzle head is pivotally mounted to effectuate desirable positioning of the nozzle openings 6 with respect to threads issuing from between said guide means and independently and without displacing the exhaust pipe means 10.
The aforesaid device prevents clogging of nozzle openings 6 and nozzle head 7 by broken thread ends, lint and the like drawn into the exhaust pipe 10. Most favorable fiow conditions are thus created, which ensure a maximum suction effect with a minimum expense of energy.
The pear-shaped nozzle head ensures the disposition thereof within a relatively small space defined by the mating guide means for the threads, whereby the location of the lower front drawing roller will remain unchanged, whereas between the nozzle head 7 and said lower front drawing roller 3 sufficient space still exists for uniting broken thread ends by an operator.
Various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention and it is intended that such obvious changes and modifications be embraced by the annexed claim.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is:
A device for facilitating removal of broken threads from a spinning machine having spaced drawing frames provided with bearing brackets and in which separate threads are fed between respective cooperable guide means; comprising a conduit located below said guide means between said bearing brackets and extending in crosswise direction thereto, a support underclearer for said conduit, said underclearer being mounted between said brackets rearwardly of said guide means, a nozzle head pear-shaped in cross-section, said nozzle head having spaced oval nozzle openings positionable directly adjacent said thread guide means, exhaust pipe means operatively and telescopically connected to said conduit and said nozzle head and providing communication therebetween, and a lever terminally pivotally secured to both said nozzle head and said underclearer and extending therebetween pivotally mounting said nozzle head for effectuating close positioning of said nozzle openings with respect to threads issuing from between said guide means and independently of and without displacing said exhaust pipe means.
