Application August 15, 1955, Serial No. 528,301 1 claim. (cl. s5z4) This invention relates to a power and time board which has removable segments so that the board is and may continuously be brought up to the minute and reveal at a glance all work currently being done in the plant, and machines and dates available for the immediate future.
Among the objects of my invention is to provide a scheduling board which will show at once what work is being done at the moment on all machines in the plant, and what times on which machines are available for work in the next several weeks or months.
Another object is to create a power and time board having indicia segments which may be moved, removed, or added to in order to keep the board up to the moment. In this connection my board does not contain past or completed data to confuse lthe user and take up a portion of the board. In this way my board is dynamic rather than static.
My board is quick and simple in operation, immediate and eective in use, beneficial in result, economical in construction, and lasting in wear.
My invention also has such other objects, advantages and capabilities as will later more fully appear and which are inherently possessed by my invention.
While I have shown in the accompanying drawings a preferred embodiment of my invention, yet it is to be understood that the same is susceptible of modification and change without departing from fthe spirit of my invention.
Referring to the drawings, Fig. 1 is a face View of my board with some segments; Fig. 2 is an enlarged sectional view on line 2-2 of Fig. l; Fig. 3 is a face view of my van'ed colored segments; Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a segment being moved; and Fig. 5 is an elevational view of my board on an easel.
The embodiment selected to illustrate my invention comprises a Ibody member or base in which is formed, mounted or attached a plurality of spaced horizontal members 11 forming a plurality of horizontal channels 12 therebetween. A plurality of spaced longitudinal dividers 13 are slidably mounted on body member 10 and extend from the upper to the lower portion thereof. These dividers 13 set olf for purposes of illustration, longitudinal spaces 14, 1S, 16 and 17. Just beneath the top of body member 10 in channel 12 in longitudinal frame 1,4 is heading 18 on a machines or power segment 19 bearing the legend: machines, or power.
In channel 12 at the top of spaces 15, 16 and 17 are headings 2S for time, such as for illustration the months July, August and September on month segments 29. In the next lower channel 12 are day segments 39 bearing working days of the month.
In longitudinal frame 14 in channels 12 under the heading machines or power are placed use defining segments 49 of a distinctive color, shape or size, or bearing insignia designating the machine or power media and possibly its capacity, capability, size or the like.

However, 4segments may represent any interval of time desired, such as an hour, week, 'month or other unit. Each segment is distinctive in color, shape, size or insignia to indicate the kind of material being used. For example for the following materials, the following colors are used: yellow segments for brass, red for steel, blue for aluminum and green for alloy steel. The current month is shown in area 15 and as this period expires, the working days sub-'heading is gradually removed and the other dates and dividers are moved from right to left. When necessary a new month is added with new sub-headings and a new divider so that the board is always up to the minute.
When work is scheduled for future delivery and there is space opposite a machine, this space is filled in by segments under the date scheduled. This may be done even if there is space between the current and future bookings. In this way future delivery and Working of machines may be seen at a glance on my board.
Each segment has an opening 20 to receive a wedge shaped point 21 of a pencil or the like for easy insertion or removal.
My board is preferably usable on an easel background, so that it is inclined about a 20 angle for easy inspection or alteration.
With my board, when a business inquiry is made, ,the user may see at a glance which machines are busy and when they will be available for use. Because the metals being used on the machines are shown, further work may be more easily planned. The same machines may be used for the same metals. This will save time because if other metals are used, the machine would have to be cleaned and prepared for the different metal. Therefore, my board not only tells at a glance what the machines are doing and when they will be free, but what metals are being used on them for scheduling future work on the same metals.
My board is particularly usable for a scheduling board, but may be used whenever power and time are involved.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
