Be it known that we, GEORGE A. BELL and WILLIAM W. ,NoRMAN, citizens of the United States, residing at 'Morley, in the county of Scott, State of Missouri, have invented an EX- tension Step-Ladder, of whichthe following is a specification. .7

Our invention rela es to grooved extensibleladders having slotted stiles and supports or legs, the same being in sections, and held together by bolts. working in the slots of the stiles and supports, said ladder being provided with hinged brace-rods having pins in the outer ends-working in the slots of the stiles and sup- I 5 ports, and the spring-catches, whereby to regulate the adjustment of the sections. This ladder can'be raised or loweredto suit all elevations; can be taken apart and used single, can be drawn out either from the top or from the I bottom. We attain these objects bythe mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in whichy Figure 1 represents the ladder with the eX- tension down, and shows the hinged brace-rods in position. Fig. 2 shows the ladder folded,

- also the brace-rods. Fig. 3 shows the ladder extended to its full height.
