3 Claims. (Cl. 128-195) My invention relates to improvements in an oil atomizing machine for treating consumption, comprising a closed oil vessel having an adjustable air inlet at its lower portion, and having at its upper portion an inhalation pipe having a mouth piece. The vessel is provided with a vertical shaft at its center, and an agitator of a screw propeller type is attached at the lower end of the shaft below the level of the oil. An atomizer of a screw propeller type is also attached on the shaft above the oil surface, to atomize oil drops produced by the agitator. A propeller of a larger diameter, having blades which extend close to the innner surface of the vessel, is attached on the shaft above the atomizer to further atomize the oil drops in the form of a dense fog and to force the atomized drops upwardly while suspended in the air current. Vertical ribs project radially at equal distances inside the vessel, and these ribs are positioned to correspond to the position of the agitator and the atomizer, to engage oil drops atomized and led vertically upward with the air current. The propeller is provided at its periphery with a metallic ring of a suitable mass to act as a fly wheel, so as to control the sudden change of motor speed at the start or stop of the machine and to avoid the shock of the air flow.
The object of the invention is to provide an oil atom- Patented Feb. 3, 1959 ice - 2 1, as shriwn in Fig. 3, to agitate the oil and spray it upward in the form of fine drops. An atomizer 14 of a three bladed screw propeller type is attached on the shaft 11 above the level of the oil, to strike the oil drops sprayed upwardly by the agitator 13, and to atomize them into fog.

An oil vessel 1 of pot shape is closed by a screw cover 2. The vessel 1 is provided at its lower portion with a funnel tube 3 bent at a right angle, for supplying oil and drawing in air. The top of the tube 3 is closed by a cover 5 having an air hole 4, and at the inner side of the cover is a disk 6 rotatatble by a handle 7. The
disk 6 has an air hole 8 and by the extent of agreement with the air hole 4, the drawing in of air is adjusted, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. At the upper portion of the vessel 1 is attached an inhalation pipe 9 having a mouth piece 10 at its other end adapted to be used to inhale atomized oil suspended in an air current, as shown in Fig. l.
The oil vessel 1 is provided at its center with. a vertical shaft 11, driven by a motor 12, mounted on the cover 2. The shaft 11 is provided at its lower end with an agitator 13 of a two bladed screw propeller type, disposed below the normal level of oil in the vessel.
According to the present invention a three bladed screw propeller 15 of a larger diameter, having blades which extend close to the inner surface of the vessel 1, is attached on the shaft 11 above the atomizer 14, so as to further atomize the oil drops and force them upwardly suspended in the air current. Another atomizer 16 of a smaller diameter than the atomizer 14, is attached 0n the shaft 11 above the propeller 15.
The vessel 1 is provided on its inside, at points cor responding to the positions of the agitator 13 and the atomizer 14, with vertical ribs 17, projecting radially at equal distances. The oil drops, produced by the agitator 13 and atomizer 14, upon striking said ribs are more finely atomized and led vertically upward,
suspended in the air current.
The propeller 15 is provided at its periphery with a metallic ring of a suitable mass, to act as a fly wheel, so as to control the sudden change of speed of the motor and to avoid the shock of the air flow.
In the oil atomizing machine of the present invention, oil is supplied into the vessel 1 to cover the agitator 13, as shown in Fig. 3. When the motor 12 is started the oil in the vessel 1 is agitated and sprayed upwardly by rotation of the agitator 13. This oil spray being struck by the atomizer 14 is atomized, and while ascending in the vessel together with the air current, is further atomized by the propeller 15 and the atomizer 16, and pressed upward in the form of a dense fog and is led to the inhalation pipe 9. The patient can inhale it at the mouth piece 10. By turning the handle 7 while using the at-omizing machine, the air drawn through the air inlet 4 is adjusted, so that the quantity of inhaling oil may be adjusted, without regulating the speed of the motor 12. Oil drops sprayed by the agitator 13 and the atomizer 14, striking at the ribs 17 are finely atomized and are led vertically upward with the air current. The propeller 15 being provided at its periphery with the metallic ring 18, serves as a fly wheel, and controls the sudden change of speed of the shaft 11, at the start or stop of the motor 12, so that the shock of the air current is avoided and the patient is protected from coughing or choking, caused by the sudden change of the air current.
Any oils or fats may be used for this machine. An example of an oil, especially adapted for treating consumption, is refined sesame oil added with about 10 percent of capric acid [CH (CH COOH], obtained from palm oil. When this compound oil is inhaled, capric acid acts to stop the growth of tuberculous germs and sterilize them. At the same time sesame oil serves to accelerate the absorption of the remedy. The present invention is new and useful for the treatment of consumption with finely atomizing oil and suspend it in an air current in the form of a dense fog to be inhaled.
I claim:
1. An oil atomizing machine for treatment of consumption, comprising a closed oil vessel having at its lower portion an air inlet, and having at its upper portion an inhalation pipe provided with a mouth piece, a vertical shaft disposed at the center of the vessel and driven by a motor, an agitator of a screw propeller type 3 i 4 to atomize oil spray produced by the agitator, and a vided at its periphery with a metallic ring of a mass to propeller of a larger diameter secured to the vertical act as afly wheel. shaft to further atomize oil drops and force them upwardly while suspended in an air current.
