PORTABLE GASEOUS FUEL BURNING STOVE Original Filed Aug. 16, 1954 INVENTORS 74m mv/wm Poss wiHw United States PatentO 2,861,562 PORTABLE GASEOUS FUEL BURNING STOVE Karl Gunnar Ross, Euskede, Bengt-Olaf Johansson, Bromma, Sten Sune Axelssou, Hagalund, and Sten-Ake Anderssou, Alvsjo, Sweden, assignors to Aktiebolaget Bahco, a corporation of Sweden Original application August 16, 1954, Serial No. 450,138. Divided and this application February 10, 1956, Serial No. 564,747
Claims priority, application Sweden August 19, 1953 4 Claims. (Cl. 126-38) This invention relates to a gaseous fuel burning portable stove or range. The fuel for the stove or range is stored in compressed form in at least one container attachable to a holder pivotally mounted relative to a box-shaped member which also includes at least one burner with a gas supply conduit connected thereto.
This application is a divisional application based upon and divided out of our co-pending application Ser. No. 450,138 filed August 16, 1954.
According to the present invention the fuel container is in form of a bottle which is mounted in the holder easily detachable therefrom and connected to a gas feed conduit. This conduit is so constructed and arranged that when the holder is pivoted up, the outlet end of the conduit, which ends in a nozzle, is positioned in alignment with the inlet end of the gas supply conduit of the burner but spaced therefrom at a distance suitable from the admixture of the gas with combustion air.
According to a further development of the invention the pivotally mounted holder may be lockable in its pivoted-up or raised position by means of a cooking vessel support pivotally connected to the holder and adapted, when the holder is pivoted up to be connected also with the box-shaped member.
Other features, objects and advantages characteristic of this invention will be described in detail below with reference to the embodiment shown by way of example on the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 shows an isometric view of a stove according to the invention, and
Fig. 2 shows a detail of the stove on an enlarged scale.
Referring first to Fig. l, the stove comprises a boxshaped member in which a burner 2 is disposed. The burner is carried by one end of a gas supply pipe 3, the opposite end of which is mounted in a U-shaped member 4 hinged to a cover plate 6. This burner also has feet 2' that support it upon the cover plate in use. plate covers the bottle-shaped gas containers 7 and is screwed to a holder 5 which forms the lid of the box. In the holder 5 which is pivoted to box 1 by means of pins 5', there may be disposed two bottles 7 (one being shown in the figure). The bottles may be screwed upon a T-shaped gas outlet pipe 9 having valves 8 at the upper T-shaped end. The pipe 9 terminates at the lower end in a nozzle 10 which, when the holder .is swung up, is in alignment with the inlet end 11 of the gas supply pipe 3, but spaced somewhat therefrom, so that gas flowing out of nozzle 10 is mixed with combustion air before entering the gas supply pipe 3 leading to burner 2.
This

To retain the holder 5 in its upright position, vessel support 12 upon which may be placed a cooking vessel, is employed as a locking member. This support is shown in form of a grid, at one end hinged by means of brackets 16 to cover plate 6 and at the opposite end attachable to a bracket 13 raising from box 1. The grid is held to the bracket by a locking arm 14 whereby the holder 5 and thus the gas bottle 7 are kept securely in the upright position when the stove is used.
What is claimed is:
1. A portable gaseous fuel burning stove comprising, in combination, a box shaped member, a gaseous fuel burner centrally located upon the inside surface of said member, a cover pivotally connected at one end with an adjacent end of said member, a cover plate removably secured within said cover and defining with said cover a compartment for enclosing at least one bottle shaped gaseous fuel storage container therewithin, a cooking vessel support hingedly connected at one end to said cover plate intermediate the pivotal connection of said one end of said cover with said member and the opposite end of said cover, a bracket secured to the opposite end of said member for releasably engaging the opposite end of said support, said bracket extending outwardly a cooking from the inside surface of said member a distance corre sponding to the distance between said hinged connection of said support on said plate and said inside surface of said member when said cover is in an open perpendicularly related position with said member, said burner being disposed intermediate said hinged connection and said bracket and disposed beneath the level of said bracket, the spacing of said bracket from said one end of said member substantially corresponding to the length of said support, and said spacing being less than the distance between said hinged connection and said opposite end of said cover, whereby said support may berotated from an inoperative position within said cover to an operative position parallel to said inside surface of said member in response to a movement of said cover to a perpendicular relationship with said member, the engagement of said opposite end of said support in said operative position with said bracket releasably maintaining said cover and member in said operative perpendicular relationship.
2. A portable gaseous fuel burning stove as set forth in claim 1, further comprising a gaseous supply conduit carried by said cover, a gaseous fuel supplying conduit carried by said member and secured to said burner, and a hinged connection between said cover conduit and said member conduit lying at substantially the same level as said hinged connection of said cover with said member, said burner having depending feet supporting said burner upon said inside surface of said member.
3. A portable gaseous fuel burning stove comprising, in combination, a boxed shaped member, at least one burner mounted in said member, a gas supply conduit for the burner, said conduit having an open inlet end, a holder pivotally connected to the box member for pivoting the holder into a raised position relative to the box shaped member, said holder having means for supporting at least one fuel bottle, a fuel feed pipe secured to said bottle for movement in unison therewith, the outlet end of said pipe in the raised position of said holder being spaced from said supply conduit for supplying a combustible mixture to the inlet end of said supply conduit, a cooking vessel support pivotally connected to said holder, the
. 3 V iygtal 'ggnneetion of said support to said holder being spaced from the pivotal connection of said holder to said box member, and catch means on said box shaped member engageable with said support when the holder is in its raised position for releasably locking the holder in the said position.
4. A stove according to claim 3, wherein the said support is in form of a grid overlying the burner in the engaged position of the support and the raised position of the holder respectively.
