DECORATED FRAME, PEDESTAL, VASE, 81.6.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 285,423, dated September 25, 1883.
l Application filed March 21, 1883. (N0 model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Brvnnros Mansn, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Brunswick, in the county of Middlesex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and usefullmprovement in Decorated Frames, Pedestals, Vases, and Columns; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and'exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to decorated frames, pedestals, vases, and columns made of glass or other suitable material, and used for frames, pedestals, vases, and lamp-columns, shelf and bination with metal tops and bases having suit able connections.
The obj eot of my invention is to imitate expensive wares made of china, porcelain, or other expensive material by using lithograph ic or colored papers, and, colors separately, and in combination with scrap-pictures, bronze, and transfers, in connection with frames, cylinders, or other forms of glass or other suitable material, as hereinafter described.
Figure 1 is a view in perspective. Fig. 2 is a view in section, showing the body of the column and base. Fig. 3 is aview of thebody or frame. Fig. 4 is a view of the ornamental vase.
Fig. 1 represents a column with base, vase,

The body is preferably made of transparent glass, and is decorated both inside and outside by attaching the ornamental decorations desired, as shown. The inside decorations, being more a groundwork, are not as elaborate as the outside, as shown at B. The body is indented or depressed where the outside decorations are attached, as shown at B Fig. 2, the decorations being pasted or fastened in the depressions, as shown at (3, Figs. 1 and 8, thus protecting the outside decorations and leaving the outside surface nearly smooth, and adding much to the effect. The decorations may consist of lithographic or colored prints and colors, scrap and gilded pictures, and transfers, prints, or paint. The decorations can be attached to an inside and outside smooth surface with good effect. D is a vase or urn. E is a base. Both vase or urn and base can be made of metal with suitable connections, or of glass, and ornamented in the same manner as the body A.
Fig. 2 represents theornament-al body and base for a lamp column or pedestal.
Fig. 8 represents the ornamental body or frame to be used as a clock frame. This frame may be round, oval, square, or a flat sheet of glass with an opening through it for the clock, as shown at E, and ornamented, as previously described. The clock can be attached to any of the forms shown bya bolt and nut or opening.
Fig. 4. represents an ornamental vase or urn decorated in the same-manner as the body A. This vase or urn is applicable to columns or pedestals, as a flower-vase, or to stoves, as a water-vase hen applied to stoves, the lower part can be made of metal, as shown at D. To the vase D, I also attach arms or handles D Handles may also be attached to the body A.
Having fully described my invention, what I desire to claim and secure by Letters Patent 1. A pedestal, column, frame, or vase made of glass or other transparent material, having depressions in the outer surface, in combination with inside and outside decorations, consisting of lithographic or colored prints, pa per, colors, or scrap or transfer pictures, said outside decorations being pasted or fastened in the depressions, substantially as described.
