SPOKE- SOCKET FOR WHEELS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of- Letters Patent No. 284,183, dated September 4, 1883.
Application filed May 7, 1883. (No model.) I
Be it known that I, SEABORN CARR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Eminence, in the county of Shannon and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in'Wheels; and I do ,declare the following tobe afull, clear, and exact descr1ption of the invention, such as will enable wheel by shortening the fellies, and thereby others skilled in' the artto which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this'speoification.
This invention relates toimprovements in the union of fellies .of wheels, and has for its object to construct a very strong and durable being enabled to use nearly-straightpieces, (with the grain of the wood.) These objects are attained by the mechanism illustrated in the drawings forming apart of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a wheel showing how .1 apply the union and fellies. Fig. 2 is a view of that part of the union which comes next the tire, and Fig. S-shows that part of the union which is nearest the hub of the wheel. Fig. 4
