Claims. (til. 26646) This invention relates to swing-up doors of the unarticulated type which are adapted to swing upwardly from a closed vertical position in a doorway to an open horizontal position. The invention is directed more particularly to a pre-installation assembly of the mounting and fastening means including the track for such a door whereby the handling and shipping of the parts and the installation of the door is greatly simplified.
The various individual parts and mechanisms for mounting a swing-up door of the unarticulated type are available commercially, but, inasmuch as these elements are many in number and or" various shapes and sizes, there is presented a considerable problem of packaging and shipping and identifying an assemblage or collection of all of the parts and mechanisms required for a single installation. There is presented a further considerable problem in that some of the parts have to be mounted on the door, some on the door jamb and some on the ceiling in precise order and relationship to each other and the parts have to be interconnected for proper operation. The result is that detailed and difficult instructions are required for the inexperienced user and even professionals have difliculty in identifying and placing the parts in proper relationship, which frequently requires considerable time and the services of at least two men.
It thus is an object of the present invention to provide a pre-installation assembly of the mounting and fastening means for a swing-up door which can be shipped as a unit and which serves as its own template during attachment to the door and adjacent building structure. Included in this aim is the provision of a pre-installation assembly which is self-supporting for packaging and shipment, which can be installed in a simple and easy manner with a minimum of instruction, and which will inherently result in a proper placement and space relationship of the parts during assembly.
Other objects will be in part obvious, and in part pointed out more in detail hereinafter.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combination or" elements and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereafter set forth and the scope of the application of which will be indicated in the appended claims.

For simplicity and brevity of presentation, there is shown in the drawings only the pro-installation assembly of parts for the right-hand side of the door. It will be understood that in actual practice a similar pre-installation assembly will be provided also for the left-hand side of the door.
In accordance with the invention, the parts are held together for shipping and installation by the track 10 which in the final installation is attached horizontally to the ceiling. As shown in the drawings, the track 10 is channel-shaped in cross section and has a length at least as long as the height of the door with which it is to be used. Since the track is made of steel and is of rugged design, it provides a very satisfactory rigid frame for the pre-installation assembly.
Located at the upper end of the track, as viewed in Figs. 1, 2 and 4, and pivotally connected thereto at 11 is a track mounting bracket 12 which in the final installation is used to connect the track to the upper end of the door jamb. At approximately the center of the track and rigidly connected thereto in spaced relationship by a spacer block 13 and bolt 14 (see Fig. 3) is a jamb bracket 15 for attachment to the door jamb which has a first flange 16 forming an anchor at 17 for the counterbalance spring 18 and a second flange 19 for a support for the hearing it) to which is connected the door arm 21. The free ends of the spring 18 and door arm 21 are held in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2 by a spacer block 22 situated between the arm 2i and track It and a tape 23 tightly wrapped around all the parts. The lower end of arm 21 is pivotally connected to an arm supporting bracket 24 which also carries a latch 25.
Secured to the jamb bracket 15 is an elongated metal jamb plate 39 having a series of apertures 31 through which screws may be inserted to attach the plate to the door jamb. A plurality of vertically aligned struck-in ears or tabs 32 are provided as guides whereby the plate may be properly located with respect to the edge of the door jamb. The upper end of the jamb plate has an outwardly bent flange 33 to which is bolted by bolt 34 and nut 35 in slightly oil-set relationship the lower outwardly flanged end 36 of an elongated metal door plate 37. The door plate 37 is similar to jamb plate 34) except that it has apertures 38 along its left-hand side for receiving screws by which it may be attached to the door and its inwardly struck ears or tabs 39 serve as locating elements for engaging the side edge of the door.
The upper end of the door plate 37 has an inwardly extending flange 40 for engaging the top edge of the door. Also, there is secured to the upper end of the door plate 37 a wheel bracket 41 which carries a rotatable wheel 42 which in turn is inserted within the upper end of the track Ill. Since the wheel 42 and track 10 are so dimensioned that they cannot separate laterally, it will be appreciated that the upper ends of the parts of the pro-installation assembly are thus effectively secured together.
The installation of the assembly thus described on a door is an exceedingly simple and easy operation. suming that a door as indicated at 50 has been placed in the door opening and properly blocked into position, the

' space between the doo'r50 and the door jamb 151. This position is best illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5 of the drawirigs. After making sure that the tabs 3? are against the edge of the door, the wheel bracket 41 is attached to the door byscrews 52, and door plate 37 is secured to the door 'by screws 53, and the track bracket 12 is attached to the door jamb 51 by screws 54.
