An object of the present invention is to produce a simple convenient device to which the hair can be readily applied and which will hold the hair in position to pro duce flat pin curls.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a pin curl curler which is simple in structure,A sturdy in construction, one easy to manipulate and to wind curls thereon, and one which is highly effective in action.

These and other objects and advantages of the present invention will be fully apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the annexed drawing, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the pin curl curler according to the present invention showing it in a position of use with a portion of a flat curl wound thereon, and showing it in dotted lines moved to an upright position before removal of the curl therefrom, and also showing one in a position in which a curl is being held tight against the scalp of an individual,

Referring in greater detail to the drawing in which like numerals indicate like parts throughout the several views, the pin curl curler according to the present invention comprises a flat base indicated generally by the reference numeral 11B. A pair of

11 and 12 are arranged in end-to-end spaced relation above and spaced from the base 10, as shown in Figures l and 6. Each of the

11 and 12 has a portion adjacent one end thereof extending over and adjacent the periphery of the base 10, there being an enlarged

11 and 12 to the base 10 for such movement consists in, as shown most clearly in Figure 7, an inverted U-shaped member 15 having the free ends of its legs bent outwardly and journaled in

A hollow tubular member is provided by the present invention for slidably and detachably receiving the

11 and 12 when they are in the upright position to elfect the spacing of the hair from the

11 and 12 when the hair is wound in a at coil about the tubular member, such member being designated generally by the reference numeral 23. Clamp means, embodying a lever 24, is provided for releasably holding the free ends of the hair as it is being wound about the member 23, the lever 24 being mounted intermediate its ends and rockably supported on the exterior of the member 23 and normally having one end adjacent to and in abutting engagement with a portion of the member 23 inwardly of one end thereof, the other end of the lever 24 being disposed outwardly from the side of the member 23 and biased toits outward position by a spring 25. t

In use, the pin curl curler, according to the present invention, is assembled with the base 10 adjacent said one end of the tubular member 23;, with the

Several strands of hair, designated byl the reference numeral 27, in Figure l, are then wound about the tubular member 23 with the free ends of the hair caught underneath the clamp means provided by the lever 24, the member 23 being rotated in the direction of the arrow in Figure 1, to Wind the hair thereabout and thereafter moved to the upright position, as shown The

The base 10 may be fabricated of any lightweight material, such as plastic, or the like, with the brackets 19 fabricated of a rigid metal, and the

What is claimed is:

l. A hair curler for making a Hat pin curl comprising a flat base, a pair of resilient iingers arranged in end-to-end spaced relation above and spaced from said base and each having a portion adjacent one end thereof extending over and adjacent the periphery of said base, each of said fingers being connected intermediate the ends thereof to said base for movement from the position with said one end portion Vextending over and adjacent the base periphery to an upright position, abutment means adjacent the other end of each of said fingers carried by said base and abuttingly engageable with the under surface of said finger inwardly of the other end of the latter and operable to releasably hold said finger in the position with said one end portion extending over and adjacent said base periphery, and a hollow tubular member` for slidably Vand detachably receiving said fingers when they are in the upright position to effect the spacing of the hair from said fingers when the hair is wound in a flat coil about said member. e

2. A hair curler for making a flat pin curl Vcomprising a flat base, a pair of resilient fingers arranged in end-toend spaced relation above and spaced from said base and each having a portion adjacent one end thereof extending over and adjacent the periphery of said base, each of' said fingers being connected intermediate the ends thereof to said base for movement from the position with said one end portion extending over and adjacent the base periphery to an upright position, abutment means adjacent the other end of each of said fingers carried by said base and abuttingly engageable with the under surface of said finger inwardly ofthe other end of the latter and operable to releasably hold said finger in the position with said one end portion extending over and adjacent said base periphery, a hollow tubular member for slidably and detachably receiving said fingers when they are in the upright position to effect the spacing of the air from the fingers when the hair is wound in a fiat coil about said member, said member being provided with a slot extending inwardly from one end thereof adjacent each finger and receivably engageable with said finger when the latter is in the upright position and within said member.

A hair curler for making a flat pin curl comprising a fiat base, a pair of resilient fingers aranged in end-to-'end spaced Vrelation above and spaced from said base and each having a portion adjacent one end thereof extending over and adjacent the periphery of said base, eac-hof said fingers being connected intermediate the ends thereof to said base for movement from the position with said one end portion extending over Vand adjacent the base periphery to an upright position, abutment means adjacent the other end of each of said fingers carried by said base and abuttingly engageable with the under surface of said finger inwardly of the other end of the latter and operable to releasably hold said finger in the position with said one end portion extending over and adjacent said base periphery, and a hollow tubular member for slidably and attachably receiving said fingers when they are in the upright position to effect the spacing of the hairfrorn said fingers when the hair is wound in a fiat coil about said member, said member being provided with'a slot extending inwardly from one end thereof adjacent each finger and receivably engageable with said finger when the latter is in the upright position and within said member, each of said fingers having an enlarged part on said one end projecting from said slot when in the upright position and within said member, said parts forming a means by which said fingers may be manually moved from the upright position to'the position having said one end portion extending over and adjacent said base periphery.

VA hair curler for making a flat pin curl comprisingl a fiat base, a pair ofrersilient Vfingers arranged in end-toend spaced relation above and spaced from said base and each having a portion adjacent one end thereof extending over and adjacent the periphery of said base, each of said fingers being connected intermediate the ends .thereof to said base for movement from the position with said one end ,portion extending over and adjacent the base periphery to an uprightposition, abutment means adjacent the other end of ea-ch of .said fingers carried by said base and abuttingly engageable with the under surface of said finger inwardly of the other end of the latter and operable to Vreleasably hold said finger in the position with said one end portion extending over and adjacent said base periphery, a hollow tubularmember for slidably and detachably receiving said fingers when they are in the upright position to effect the spacing of the hair from said fingers when the hair is wound in a flat coil about said member, and clamp means carried by said member for releasably holding the ends of the hair as it is being wound about saidmember.
