16 Claims. (Cl. 189-46) This invention relates generally to doors, especially jalousie doors, and refers more particularly to a lock and handle construction therefor.
It is an object of the invention to obtain a construction in which the lock is adapted for installation at the factory where the door is manufactured instead of being subsequently installed. lt is a further object to obtain a handle construction for cooperation with the lock when thus installed. With these objects in view, the invention comprises a door stile, especially a metallic stile of U-Shaped cross section, and a lock construction for fitting therewithin and positioned thereby. The invention further comprises a construction of inner and outer handle members also positioned by the stile in operative relation to the lock. The invention further comprises the more specific construction as hereinafter set forth.
Although the above described construction is primarily `designed for use with metallic door stiles, it will be readily apparent that such construction can be used with the stiles or uprights of regular Wood doors.

The metallic door has elements thereof, including the stiles, formed of extruded bars. One stile A is of generally U-shaped cross section and has on its inner opposite faces narrow slightly projecting bearing strips A', A2, the latter being at the open end of the U and having grooves A3 therein. To receive the lock and the handles, this stile A has a suitably positioned circular aperture A4 formed in the cross Wall thereof and has apertures A5 in the opposite side walls, all centered in the same transverse plane. The apertures A5 have extension slots A6 at diametrically opposite sides thereof, and such slots A6 extend longitudinally of the stile A. There are also small apertures A7 in opposite sidewalls of the stile A, and such apertures A7 are spaced longitudinally from and are in vertical alignment with the slots AS.
The lock casing B includes a generally U-shaped member B having a narrower portion B2 adjacent to the cross portion B3 thereof. A complementary member C extends across the open end of the U-shaped member B and is secured thereto by screws C. Plates D corresponding in shape to the U-shaped member B are positioned at opposite edges thereof and complete the enclosure. The
Patented Dec. 10, 1957 member C lhas formed thereon a circular boss C2 which ts within the circular aperture A4 in the stile. An aperture C3 through this boss C2 and member C receives the projecting portion of a slidable latch bolt F having a shank F and the usual inclined face F2.
E is a sheet metal stamping having right angle flange portions E E2 at opposite ends thereof. A slot E3 extends longitudinally centrally of the member E, and an enlarged circular hole E4 is provided in the flange E. The hole E4 is adapted to receive the circular shank F of the latch bolt F. The shank F is provided with a peripheral groove F3 for receiving a snap ring G which retains the shank F in engagement with the flange portion E of the stamping E. H is a rock shaft extending across the casing B through the slot E3 in the stamping E and having circular end portions H' which engage aligned circular apertures D in the plates D. The rockshaft H has a projecting rock arm H2 adjacent to one end thereof and is provided intermediate its ends with spaced grooves H2. l is a rod which has one end slidably engaging a recess F4 in the shank F. At its opposite end the rod I has a bifurcated head I provided with spaced flanges I2 which straddle a non-circular portion H5 of the rockshaft H and are slotted to provide spaced fingers I3 that fit into the spaced grooves H3 in the rockshaft H. A coil spring I4 is sleeved upon the rod I between the head l thereof 'and a flange l2 of an angle member I having a rearwardly projecting flange l engaging a wider portion E5 of the slot E3. The flange J2 is slotted at J3 to embrace the rod I and is normally held by the spring I4 against the rear end of the shank F of the latch member F so as to be movable therewith. The flange l engaging the wider portion E5 of the slot E3 in the member E inclines slightly upward as well as rearward from the lower end of the flange I2. Adjacent its rear end the flange l has opposite side edges slotted transversely at I4 to provide fingers J5 that are bent slightly downward. inasmuch as the angle between the flanges J and J2 is slightly less than a right angle, the pressure of the spring I4 against the flange J2 will cause the flange J to incline slightly upward from the plane of the member E. Thus, in the assembled position of the parts, the latch bolt F, stamping E and angle member l are movable rearwardly as a unit in the casing B when the rockshaft H is turned anti-clockwise to cause the rock arm H2 to exert a rearward force against the flange E2 of the stamping E. During such rearward movement of the members F, E and l the rod I telescopes Within the recess F4. However, such rearward movement is prevented if the rockshaft H is turned clockwise so that the rock arm H2 is positioned in the rearward path of the flange J projecting slightly upward from the slot E5 in the member E. The resilient pressure of the spring i4 will normally hold the latch member F projected from the aperture C3 in the boss C2 and from the aperture A4 in the stile A. There is also a pin K extending across the narrow portion B2 of the casing B, and pivoted on this pin K are a pair of bell crank levers K spaced from each other by a tube K2 on the pin. These levers K perform a function which Will be later described. The casing B is secured within the stile A by first engaging the boss C2 with the aperture A4 of the stile A and then sliding a plate L in the grooves A3 to a position in regis tration with the casing B. A set screw L in the plate L is then tightened to clamp the casing in this position where the axis of the rockshaft H passes through the centers of the apertures A5 in the sides of the stile.
The handle M for the outside of the door is prefer ably U-shaped and is preferably formed as a die casting. The portion M of the handle forms the hand grip thereof and the portions M2 and M3 form supporting legs and engage the stile A. The leg M2 has a base portion M4 provided with a circular pilot portion M5 tting the aperture A5. There is also a cylindrical recess M6 in the base portion M1 concentric with this pilot portion M5. A slidable cylindrical casing M7 telescopically engaging the recess M6 contains a rotatable key actuated tumbler type lock mechanism M20 that is operatively connected to and is adapted to rotate a central shaft M of noncircular cross section. The shaft M8 engages a correspondingly shaped aperture H4 extending axially through the rockshaft H and is adapted to rotate this rockshaft H with it when actuated by the key. The casing M7 normally extends outward from the recess M6 and is resiliently held in this position by a coil spring M9 surrounding the central shaft M2 between an end plate M10 and the cross portion M19 of a U-shaped member M12. This plate M10 bears against a spring ring M11 engaging a groove in the base portion M'1 surrounding the recess M6. In the present instance, the shaft M8 of non-circular cross section has a cylindrical portion M30 rotatable in the cross portion M19 of the U-shaped member M12 and is provided upon the outer side of said cross portion M19 with an integral disk or head M31 provided with a radially extending lug M32 adapted to be engaged by a lug M33 projecting endwise from the rotatable tumbler type lock mechanism M20 at one side thereof. Thus, when the lock mechanism M20 is turned by a key, the lug M33 will engage the lug M32 and will cause the head M31 and shaft MB to turn. The U-shaped member M12 has parallel arms M13 engaging channels M14 in the portion M4 at diametrically opposite sides of the recess M6 therein. The cross portion M19 of the U-shaped member M12 is held by a split ring M21 within diametrically extending slots M40 in the inner end of the cylindrical casing M7 so that when the latter is pressed in against the tension of the spring M9, the arms M13 will contact with the aims K3 of the bell crank levers K. The other arms KL1 of the bell crank lever K contact with the inner face of the flange E2 of the stamping E so that when the casing M7 is pressed inward the aims M13 will rock the bell crank levers K', thereby retracting the stamping E and associated members including the latch bolt F attached thereto. In brief, the casing M7 forms a push button which when pressed inward will retract the latch member F. The latch member F may also be retracted by turning the rockshaft H under the actuation of the key and through the medium of the shaft M8.
The handle N on the inside of the door is mounted in an elliptical shaped plate O having a pilot portion O engaging the aperture A5 on the inner side of the stile A. This plate O and the outer handle M are secured to the stile A by clamping bolts O2 which pass through apertures O4 in the elongated axis of the plate O, through the slots A6 in the stile A and into screw threaded recesses O5 in the inner face of the handle portion M4. The heads of these bolts O2 are on the inside of the door so as to prevent unauthorized detachment of the outer handle M. This outer handle M is further secured by a bolt O3 extending through the apertures A7 in opposite side walls of the stile A. This bolt O3 has its head bearing against the inside of the stile A and has its threaded end portion M engaging a threaded recess M16 in the leg M3. The inner handle N has a horizontal portion N provided at its outer end with a laterally extending integral lever arm portion N2. The horizontal portion N of the handle N has a reduced portion N3 extending through the plate O and secured thereto by a snap ring N4 that engages the plate O and a groove N5 in said reduced portion N3. There is also a central shaft portion N6 which is non-circular and ts in the central aperture H4 through the rockshaft H. This shaft portion N5 may be formed of a separate member having a knurled shank portion N8V driven into a central recess N9 in the horizontal portion N' of the member N. Thus,
if the horizontal portion N is turned by the lever N2, this will 'also turn the rockshaft H.
With the construction as above described it will be understood that the latch bolt F can be locked against retraction by turning the rockshaft H clockwise so as to move the rock arm H2 into the rearward path of the angle member I. Such turning may be accomplished either by movement of the inner handle N through the medium of the shaft N6 or by the shaft M8 actuated by the key in the tumbler type lock mechanism M20 in the cylindrical casing or push button M7. If it is desired to lock the door from the outside without using the key the inner handle N may be turned clockwise while the door is still open to position the rock arm H2 in the rearward path of the tlange I of the angle member J. However, before the handle N is turned, the push button M7 must first be pressed inward so that when the rock arm H2 is moved by the handle N to the position just mentioned said rock arm H2 will ride over one of the downwardly bent ngers J4 onto the angle member J and consequently will press the flange J downward, thereby rocking the angle member J against the resilient resistance of the coil spring I4. After the door is closed the push button M7 is released which permits the pressure of the spring I1 to move the members F, E and J outward until the angle member J clears the rock arm H2, whereupon the ange J of the angle member J will be sprung upward automatically by the pressure of the spring I1 into position to be obstructed by the rock arm H2. ln this position the arm H2 will be in the rearward path of the ange J of the angle member I and thus will prevent retraction of said members F, E and l. Thus the door cannot be opened from the outside except by the operation of the key. The door is opened from the inside by moving the handle N anticlockwise which causes the rock arm H2 to engage the flange E2 of the stamping E and move rearwardly the stamping E and `associated members including the latch bolt F attached thereto. The lever N2 is in locked position when it extends upward.
What I claim as my invention is:
l. In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock casing within said U and having a boss engaging an opening in the cross wall thereof and constituting a sleeve for a slidable latch bolt, opposite side walls of said U being provided on their inner opposed faces at the open end of the U with longitudinally extending bearing strips having longitudinally extending grooves therein, and means holding said boss against displacement, including a slidable plate bridging the open end of the U at a point substantially in horizontal alignment with the opening in said cross wall and having edge portions engaging said grooves, and an adjustable element carried by said plate and engaging said lock casing.
2. In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U7 said casing having a boss extending through an opening in the cross wall of said U and lconstituting a sleeve for a slidable latch bolt, one of said handles and a mounting plate for the other of said handles having pilot portions engaging openings in opposite side walls of said U, and means for holding said boss and said pilots against displacement, including adjustable elements extending transversely of said stile and said lock casing and terminally engaging said one handle and the mounting plate for the other handle.
3. In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U, said casing having a boss extending through an opening in the cross wall of said U and constituting a sleeve for a slidable latch bolt, a sheet metal stamping slidable within said casing and having two spaced flange portions, a latch bolt xed to one of said flange portions and slidably engaging said boss, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of the flange portions of said stamping to retract said latch bolt, and means for actuating said rockshaft, including shafts projecting from said handles through opposite side Walls of said stile and telescopically but non-rotatively engaging said rockshaft at opposite ends thereof.
4. In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and havingl handles upon opposite outer sides of said U, said casing having a boss extending through an opening in the cross wall of said U and constituting a sleeve for a slidable latch bolt, a sheet metal stamping slidable within said casing and having two spaced ange portions, a latch bolt fixed to one of said ange portions and slidably engaging said boss, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of the flange portions of said stamping to retract said latch bolt, a pivotally mounted bell crank lever within said casing and also engageable with the second of the flange portions of said stamping to retract said bolt, means operable from one side of said stile for actuating said rockshaft, including a shaft projecting from one of said handles through one side wall of said stile and telescopically but non-rotatively engaging said rocltshaft at one end thereof, means operable from the opposite side of said stile for alternately actuating said rockshaft and said bell crank lever respectively, including two independently operable members projecting from the other of said handles through the opposite side wall of said stile, one of said independently operable members being engageable with said bell crank lever, and the other of said independently operable members telescopically but non-rotatively engaging said rockshaft at the other end thereof.
5. In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U, said casing having a boss extending through an opening in the cross wall of said U and constituting a sleeve for a slidable latch bolt, a sheet metal stamping slidable within said casing and having two spaced ange portions, a latch bolt fixed to one of said flange portions and slidably engaging said boss, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of the flange portions of said stamping to retract said latch bolt, a rod telescopically engaging said latch bolt and having a head straddling a part of said rockshaft intermediate the ends thereof, a coil spring sleeved on said rod between said head and said bolt and normally urging the latter to projected position, and means for actuating said rockshaft, including shafts projecting from said handles through opposite side walls of said stile and telescopically but non-rotatively engaging said rockshaft at opposite ends thereof.
6. In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U, said casing having a boss extending through an opening in the cross wall of said U and constituting a sleeve for a slidable latch bolt, a sheet metal stamping slidable within said casing and having tw-o spaced flange portions, 'a latch bolt xed to one of said flange portions and slidably engaging said boss, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of the flange portions of said stamping to retract said latch bolt, a rod telescopically engaging said latch bolt and having a head straddling Ia part of said rockshaft intermediate the ends thereof, a coil spring sleeved on said rod between said head and said bolt and normally urging the latter to projected position, a pivotally mounted bell crank lever within said casing and also engageable with the second of the ange portions of said stamping to retract said bolt, means operable from one side of said stile for actuating said rockshaft, including a shaft projecting from one of said handles through one side wall of said stile and telescopically but non-rotatively engaging said rockshaft at one end thereof, means. operable from the opposite side of said stile for alternately actuating said rockshaft and said bell crank lever respectively, including two independently operable members projecting from the other of said handles through the opposite side wall of said stile, one of said independently operable members being engageable with said bell cranklever, and the other of said independently operable members telescopically but non-rotatively engaging said rockshaft at the other end thereof.
7. ln combination a door stile lof U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U said casing having a boss extending through Ian opening in the cross wall of said U and constituting a sleeve for a slidable latch bolt, a sheet metal stamping slidable within said casing and having two spaced flange portions, a latch bolt fixed to one of said flange portions and slidably engaging said boss, a rockshaft within said casing and hav'- ing a rock arm engageable with the second yof the flange portions of said stamping to retract said latch bolt, a rod telescopically engaging said latch bolt and having a head straddling 'a part of said rockshaft intermediate the ends thereof, a coil spring sleeved on said rod between said head and said bolt and normally urging the latter to projected position, said stamping having a longitudinally extending slot receiving said rockshaft, means cooperating with said rock arm t-o block retraction of said bolt including an angle member having a bifurcated part straddling said rod between said spring and said bolt whereby said Iangle member is movable rearwardly with said stamping and bolt upon retraction of said bolt, said angle member also having a rearwardly projecting second part engaging a portion of the slot in said stamping, said second part of said angle member having a downwardly inclined transversely extending finger, the construction and arrangement of said rock arm 'and said angle member being such that said rock arm is adapted when said bolt is projected to move to a position in the rearward path of the second part of said angle member to block retraction of said bolt and is adapted when said bolt is retracted to ride over said finger onto said second part so that when said bolt is thereafter returned by said spring from said retracted position to said projected position said rock arm will then automatically be in the position aforesaid to block retraction of said bolt, Iand means for actuating said rockshaft, including shafts projecting from said handles through opposite side walls `of said stile and telescopically but non-rotatively engaging said rockshaft at opposite ends thereof.
8. In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having 'a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U, said casing having a boss extending through an opening in the cross wall of said U and constituting a sleeve for a slidable latch bolt, a sheet metal stamping slidable within said casing and having two spaced flange portions, a latch bolt fixed to one of said flange portions and slidably engaging said boss, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of the flange portions of said stamping to retract said latch bolt, a rod telescopically engaging said latch bolt and having a head straddling a part of said rockshaft intermediate the ends thereof, a coil spring sleeved on said rod between said`head and said bolt Iand normally urging the latter to projected position, means cooperating with said rock arm to block retraction of said bolt, including an angle member having a bifurcated part straddling said rod between said spring and said bolt whereby said angle member is movable rearwardly with said stamping and bolt upon retraction of said bolt, said angle member also having a rearwardly projecting second part, the construction and arrangement of said rock arm and said angle member being such that said rock arm is adapted when said bolt is projected to move to a position in the rearward path of the second part of said angle member to block retractionk of said bolt, and means for actuating said rockshaft, including shafts projecting from said handles through opposite side walls of said stile and telescopically but non-rotatively engaging said rockshaft at opposite ends thereof.
9. In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U, said casing having a boss extending through an opening in the cross wall of said U and constituting a sleeve for a slidable latch bolt, a sheet metal stamping slidable within said casing and having two spaced ange portions, a latch bolt fixed to one of said ange portions and slidably engaging said boss, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of the flange portions of said stamping to retract said latch bolt, a rod telescopically engaging said latch bolt and having a head straddling a part of said rockshaft intermediate the ends thereof, a coil spring sleeved on said rod between said head and said bolt and normally urging the latter to projected position, means cooperating with said rock a-rm to block retraction of said bolt, in- 'cluding a member straddling said rod between said spring and said bolt and movable rearwardly with the latter, said straddling member having a rearwardly projecting portion, said rockshaft being movable in one direction to cause said rock arm to engage the second of the ange portions of said stamping to retract said bolt and being movable in the opposite direction to cause said rock arm to be disposed in the rearward path of the rearwardly projecting portion of said straddling member to block retraction of said latch bolt, and means for actuating said rockshaft, including shafts projecting from said handles through `opposite side walls of said stile and telescopically but non-rotatively engaging said rockshaft at opposite ends thereof.

In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U, a slidable element within said casing and having two spaced flanges, a slidable latch bolt fixed to one of said llanges and projecting outwardly through aligned openings in said casing and stile, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of said flanges to retract said bolt, a rod engaging said latch bolt and having a head engaging a part of said rockshaft, a coil spring sleeved on said rod between said head and 'bolt and normally urging the latter to projected position, a member having a part between said spring and said bolt and movable with the latter, said rockshaft being movable anti-clockwise to cause said rock arm to engage the second flange aforesaid to retract said bolt and being movable clockwise to cause said rock arm to be disposed in the rearward path of said member to block retract-ion of said bolt, a pivotally mounted bell crank lever within said casing and also engageable with the second ange aforesaid to retract said bolt, 'a push button in one of said handles, a rotatable key actuated tumbler type lock mechanism within said push button, means operable by said push button for actuating said bell crank lever to retract said bolt, means operable by said key actuated lock mechanism for actuating said rockshaft, and means operable by the other of said handles lfor actuating said rockshaft.

coil spring sleeved on said rod between said head and bolt and normally urging the latter to projected position, a member having-a part between said spring and said bolt and movable with the latter, said rockshaft being movable anti-clockwise to cause said rock arm to engage the second flange aforesaid to retract said bolt and 'being movable clockwise to cause said rock arm to be disposed in the rearward path of said member to block retraction of said bolt, a rotatable key actuated tumbler type lock mechanism within one of said handles, means operable by said key actuated lock mechanism for actuating lsaid rockshaft, and means operable by the other of said han-dles for actuating said rockshaft.
12. In combination, a `door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U, a slidable element within said casing and having two spaced ilanges, a slidable latch bolt fixed to one of said anges and projecting outwardly through aligned openings in said casing and stile, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of said flanges to retract said bolt, a rod engaging said latch bolt and having a head engaging a part of said rockshaft, a coil spring sleeved on said rod between said head and bolt `and normally urging the latter to projected position, a member having a part between said spring and said bolt and movable with the latter, said rockshaft being movable anti-clockwise to cause said rock arm to engage the second liange aforesaid to retract said bolt and being movable clockwise to cause said rock arm to be disposed in the rearward path of said member to block retraction of said bolt, a pivotally mounted bell crank lever Within said casing and also engageable with the second flange -aforesaid to retract said bolt, a push button in one of said handles, means operable by said push button for actuating said bell crank lever to retract said bolt, and means operable by the other of said handles for actuating said rockshaft.
13. In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite cuter sides of said U, a slidable element within said casing and having two spaced anges, a slidable latch bolt fixed to one of said l anges and projecting outwardly through aligned openings in said casing and stile, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of said iianges to retract said bolt, a rod engaging said latch bolt and having a head engaging a part of said rockshaft, a
' coil spring sleeved on said rod between said head and said bolt and normally urging the latter to projected position, a pivotally mounted bell crank lever within said casing and also engageable with the second flange aforesaid to retract said bolt, a push button in one of said handles, a rotatable key actuated tumbler type lock mechanism within said push button, means operable by said push button for actuating said bell crank lever to retract said bolt, means operable by said key actuated lock mechanism for actuating said rockshaft, and means operable by the other of said handles for actuating said rockshaft.
14. In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U, a slidable element within said casing and having two spaced flanges, a slidable latch bolt fixed to one of said flanges and projecting outwardly through aligned openings in said casing and stile, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of said anges to retract said bolt, a rod engaging said latch bolt and having a head engaging a part of said rockshaft, a coil spring sleeved on said rod between said head and said bolt and normally urging the latter to projected position, a pivotally mounted bell crank lever within said casing and also engageable with the second flange aforesaid to retract said bolt, a push button in one of said handles, means operable by said push button for actuating said bell crank lever to retract said bolt, and means operable by the other of said handles for actuating said rockshaft.
15. In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U, a slidable element within said casing and having two spaced anges, a slidable latch bolt xed to one of said anges and projecting outwardly through aligned openings in said casing and stile, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of said anges to retract said bolt, a rod engaging said latch bolt and having a head engaging a part of said rockshaft, a coil spring sleeved on said rod between said head and said bolt and normally urging the latter to projected position, a rotatable key actuated tumbler type lock mechanism within one of said handles, means operable by said key actuated lock mechanism for actuating said rockshaft, and means operable by the other of said handles for actuating said rockshaft.

In combination, a door stile of U cross section, a door lock having a casing inside said U and having handles upon opposite outer sides of said U, a slidable element within said casing and having two spaced flanges, a slidable latch bolt ixed to one of said anges and projecting outwardly through aligned openings in said casing and stile, a rockshaft within said casing and having a rock arm engageable with the second of said flanges to retract said bolt, a rod engaging said latch bolt and having a 1i) head engaging a part of said rockshaft, a coil spring sleeved on said rod between said head and said bolt and normally urging the latter to projected position, a pivotally mounted bell crank lever within said casing and also engageable with the second flange aforesaid to retract said bolt, a push button in one of said handles, a rotatable key actuated tumbler type lock mechanism within said push button and provided at its inner end with an endwise projection, means operable by said push button for actuating said bell crank lever to retract said bolt including a slidably mounted member in said one handle interlocked with said push button and engageable with said bell crank lever, means operable by said key actuated lock mechanism for actuating said rockshaft including a shaft rotatable in said slidable member and telescopically but nonrotatively engaging said rockshaft at one end thereof, and a head on said shaft and provided with a radially extending lug actuable by the endwise projection aforesaid, and means operable by the other of said handles for actuating said rockshaft, including a shaft non-rotatively engaging said other handle and telescopically but nonrotatively engaging said rockshaft at the other end thereof.
