' 1 Claim. (Cl. 12& 24s
Another object is to provide a device of this character which the tion and operation of devices of this character and increase the efliciency thereof without increasing the cost of the same.
The invention-consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangements of the several described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the followingdescription and accompanying drawings, in which,
Fig. l is a view in elevation of my improved device.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged longitudinal section of the device, end being shown in elevation with the free end thereof broken away[ Fig. 3 is a detail cross sectional view taken on the plane of. line 3-3 Fig. 2 looking in the direction of the arrows and showing the perforations in the device.
Referring specifically to the drawings in which like numerals are used to designate like parts.
Numeral 2 is a flexible rubber tube connected by any suitable means at one end to awater supply such as a lavatory or bath tub faucet 3, and at the other end to an may be either an enema nozzle nozzle or douche is of the usual and is molded from a suitable or a vaginal douche. The well known construction thermoplastic composition such as vulcanized rubber or like plastic composition.
Obviously, applicant's invention is not in the faucet or discharge nozzle but is in the novel form of holder or device A for carrying the medicated discs or the like.
The device A is fitted within the flexible rubber tube 2 at any convenient point between the faucet 3 and the discharge nozzle 4.
portion loadapted to be fitted 7 rubber tube 2 and provided with corrugations 11 or manner so as to be 2,81 1,156 Patented Oct. 29, 1957 2 The device A consists of two parts, B and C. The part B consists of a cylindrical portion and tion is a series of holes through the cylindrical medicated discs E.
The part C also consists of a cylindrical portion provided with internal threads 9 adapted to mesh with the external threads 5 to lock together the sections B and C.
The section C is also provided with a within the reduced tubular por- 8 which permit the water to pass portion which carries one or more roughened in the usual well known firmly attached to the tube 2 when :assembled therein.
The cylindrical part C is also provided with a series of holes 12 which permit the water to pass from the medicated discs E to the discharge nozzle 4.
To render the device absolutely water tight a small washer F of rubber or other suitable/material may be placed in position within the cylindricalpart C. The operation is quite simple. are fitted within the ends of the tube 2, the operator places one or more medicated discs'within the section; B which is held in the left hand; their with the right hand the section C is screwed firmly to the section B and the de' By this device, treatment could be applied to the prostate very directly through the rectum. The rectal douche does not mean the flushing of the entire colon. It is suflicient to confine it to the rectum and it is best to use the hot water in the form of irrigation, letting it run out as fast as it enters for 2 or 3 minutes or more. Such irrigation with hot water has a very soothing effect when the prostate is in an irritable and inflamed condition.
While I have illustrated and described in detail preferred embodiments of the invention, it is thought to be obvious that a device constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated, and it will also be obvious that myinvention is susceptible of some change and modification withoutdeparting from the principles and spirit thereof, and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangements and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim:
A device of the class described comprising a. flexible fluidconducting member adapted to be connected at one end to'a suitable source of liquid supply, a cylindrical medicated 'disc container consisting of two cylindrical parts, the first part being threaded on its outside cylindrical surface and having a roughened tubular portion of reduced diameter adapted to be fitted within the other After the sections B and C i end of the, flexible fluid conducting member, a series of holes on the face of the cylindrical part within the reduced tubular portion, the second cylindrical part being threaded in its inside cylindrical surface and having a roughened tubular portion of reduced diameter adapted to be fitted within the end of a rubber tube the other end of said tube being connected to a discharge nozzle, a series of holes on the face of the second cylindrical part within the reduced tubular portion said second part being adapted to be firmly screwed into the first part, whereby a closed 10 References Cited in the file of this patent UNITED STATES PATENTS McCall et a1.
