Claims priority, application France fictoher 1, 1953 1 Claim. (Cl. 3il43) The present invention relates to dry-shavers provided with a shaver head comprising one or more blades, which are pressed elastically against a grid and which are capable of being driven in rotation by a mechanical or electric motor for example. It has for its object improvements made in these shaver heads permitting of simplification of their construction and improvement of the shaving.
in accordance with one of these improvements, the grid is constituted by a plane, flexible, perforated, metallic plate, which may be reinforced on its periphery. This rrangement permits the shaver to follow the sinuosities of the skin, and permits the user to shave himself very closely.
in accordance with another improvement to which the invention relates, the shaver head is fixed upon a sup porting body, in immovable manner, for example with the aid of a bayonet-joint, and is constituted by an assembly comprising the blade-carrierand the grid. If this assembly deteriorates, it is sufiicient for the user to replace it by another new assembly.
In a preferred embodiment of this improvement, the assembly comprises a first ring provided with an internal projection holding the blade-carrier, and a second ring slipped onto the first, and keeping the grid in contact with the blades.
In accordance with another improvement the blades are fixed to the blade-carrier by means of hooks, which permits of their easy replacement.
In accordance with yet another improvement, balls are set at the ends of the arms of the blade-carrier in order to diminish the friction between these arms and the wall of the shaver head, and the wear resulting therefrom.
Hereinafter these has been described by way or" non limitative example an embodiment of the shaver head improved on accordance with the present invention, with reference to the attached drawing, wherein:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing the various elements of the shaver head.
Fig. 2 is an axial section through this shaver head.
As shown in the drawing, the dry-shaver has a sup porting body 1 provided on its upper part with two raised portions 2 in the form of arcs of a circle, and adapted to be fixed upon the casing of the shaver.
A shaver head designated generally by 1a is fixed in removable manner upon the supporting body 1. This shaver head comprises an internal ring 3, provided with an internal annular projection or fiange 4 preventing the emergence of a blade-carrier 5. This blade-carrier comprises a certain number of arms, three in the example as illustrated, each provided with a hook 6 passing through an aperture 7 of a cutting member or blade 8, the base of which is engaged in a slot 9 of the arm. The blade 8 does not rest upon the bottom of the slot, so that it can have an oscillatory movement and thus follow the deformations of the grid 10 co-operating with the blades during use. At the end of each arm of the lade-carrier 5 there may be set a ball intended to roll upon the inner wall of the ring 3, when the shaver is in use. By way of variant the blades 8 could be fixed by screws to the blade-carrier 5.
Upon the ring 3 there rests the grid ltl, constituted by a plane disc of sheet steel, of a thickness of about A mm. which is provided with perforations l3, and reinforced on its external diameter by a ring 14. Upon the ring 3 there is fitted and fixed an external ring 15, the upper edge of which is turned over, forming a flange as indicated at 16 to provide clamping means, the grid 10 thus being gripped between the ring 3 and this flange 16. Thus, the internal ring 3 and the external ring 15 together constitute a grid carrier.
The shaver head is fixed to the supporting body 1 by a bayonet joint, the ring 3 being provided internally with lugs 1'7 which engage in slots 18 formed for this purpose in the raised portions 2.
The supporting body 1 is pierced at its centre and pro vided, about this aperture, with an annular raised portion 19. in this raised portion there are fitted forcibly two washers 28 serving as hearings for a shaft 21. The upper end of this shaft is in the form of a conical screwdriver Z2, and engaged a similarly conical recess 23 provided in the blade-carrier 5. Upon the lower end of the shaft 21 there is fixed a plate 24 provided with a slot 25. in this slot there is engaged a finger 26 carried by the regulator or speed governor 27 which is shown in Fig. 2 as an annular member rotatably mounted in the supporting body 1 and driven in rotation by the motor shaft 28. Rotation of the regulator 27 causes the finger 26 thereon engaged in the slot 2% to turn the plate 24 and thereby rotate the shaft 23.. The function of the regulator 27 is to maintain constant the speed of rotation of the motor shaft 23- and thereby ma n ain constant the speed of rotation of shaft 21. The shaft 23 is mounted with a certain longitudinal play in its bearings, and a spring 29 interposed between the plate and the regulator 2'? tends to push the blades against the grid 33.
During use, the flange it? assists the skin to bulge out, which straightens the hairs and facilitates their penetration into the holes 13 of the gri The cut hairs drop into the bowl existing between the raised portions 2 and 19, and can subsequently be removed easily by separating the shaver head from the supporting body 1. This shaver head can be replaced even when the shaft 21 is rotating.
it will be obsc the rings 3 and damaged.
