1 Claim. (Cl. 230--92) This invention relates to a combination fixture.
It is an object of this invention to provide a combination fixture wherein ejector means are provided to insure flow through one of multiple outlets at a time.
It is a further object of this invention to provide a combination fixture wherein ejector means are utilized to prevent water backing up and dripping from one outlet of multiple outlets when flow is directed through a difierent outlet.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a combination fixture embodying this invention.

The fixture illustrated in Figure 1 has hot water supplied through pipe and cold water through pipe 12 into a connecting cross 14, the flow being controlled by conventional valves 16 and 18.
A shower head 20 is connected by pipe 22 to one arm 23 of cross 14 while a spout 24 is connected by pipe 26 to the other arm 28 of the cross. Thus a tub and shower fixture is provided with a manual diverter valve 30 in the spout. pipe 26 and out spout 24. When diverter valve 30 is positioned to close off the spout 24 water backs up through pipe 22 and out the shower head.
To prevent water backing up in pipe 22 during flow through the spout and thus a dripping through the shower Flow of water is normally downward through head, an ejector is provided in the cross. Such backing up might be caused by partial obstruction of the spout 24 or pipe 26.
The ejector is formed by providing a wall 34 at the extremity of arm 23 and a similar wall 36 at the extremity of arm 28. The two walls are spanned by a solid member or bridge 38 which in this embodiment is half the thickness of the cross 14. A port 46 communicates arm 23 with arm 28.
The wall 36 has a bore 42 therein which communicates with the interior of the horizontal arm 44 of cross 14.
Thus when the spout is open permitting flow therethrough, water entering arm 44 of cross 14 flows through port 42 into pipe 26. Since port 42 is of smaller cross section than the efiective cross section of arm 44, its velocity is increased creating a venturi effect and sucks air through the shower head 2i) and port 41) preventing Water backing up and dripping from the shower head. When the diverter valve 30 is moved to the spout closing position water backs up through port 46 and pipe 22 and is sprayed from the shower head. 7
While what hereinbefore has been described is the preferred embodiment of this invention it is readily apparent that alterations and modifications can be resorted to without departing from the scope of this invention and such alterations and modifications are intended to be included within the scope of the appended claim.
I claim:
A combination fixture comprising: a cross having a pair of inlets and a pair of outlets, walls between said inlets and said outlets, a bridge spanning said walls and having an unobstructed port therein communicating said outlets independent of said inlets, and an unobstructed opening through one of said walls permitting flow through one of said outlets, flow through said last mentioned outlet drawing air through said port from the other outlet preventing water accumulation or discharge from said last mentioned outlet.
