2 Claims. (Cl. 99--172) My invention relates to packages for refrigerator type of cookies to be used in packaging the same to assist commercial trading in the said commodity.
An important object of my invention is to provide a package for maintaining refrigerator cookies in hermetically sealed confinement.
Another object of my invention is to provide a package for holding a multiplicity of cookies each arranged and confined in individually hermetically sealed compartments.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a package of the aforementioned character made of two sheets of waxed paper which are maintained in sealed relationship by the application of heat and crimping pressure simultaneously.
A further object of my invention is to provide a package of the aforementioned character which is sealed by heat and crimping pressure perimetrically and also subdivided by applying heat and crimping pressure along longitudinal and transverse intersecting lines of crimping juncture inorder to subdivide the entire area of the package into a multiplicity of individually and hermetically sealed cookie confining compartments.
A still further object of my invention is to provide separating means to facilitate opening, or partition, of the component elements of the said package in order to permit removal of the cookies preparatory to baking and completing the cookie ready for consumption.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a package for refrigerator cookies of the aforementioned character which is simple in construction and economical to manufacture in quantity production.
Other objects and advantages inherent in my invention will become apparent from an examination of the accompanying drawings bearing further elucidation in the ensuing description, wherein like numerals are used to designate like parts, and in which:

Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of a cookie compartment showing the lines of crimping, being also indicated in cross-section and being an enlarged single unit with frag ments of an adjacent unit, similar to the illustration of Fig. 2.

Referring to the various views my invention is generally designated 6 and consists of two sheets of material 7 and 8 which may be of a parafiined or waxed paper, or of cellophane or of any other suitable material.
The lower sheet 8 has placed thereon a series, or a multiple number, of cookie elements 14 as indicated the package being manufactured to whatever is deemed to be the most practical commercial size. In this instance, a package is illustrated containing 16 cookie 2 elements. The top sheet 7 is placed in congruency and superimposition over the bottom sheet 8 and the entire assemblage is crimped along the lines 11 and 12 as well as along intermediate lines 9 and 10 in order to confine each cookie 14 in an individually hermetically seale compartment 13.
The package is thus maintained under refrigeration in order to prevent the cookie elements and their ingredi. ents from becoming attacked by the atmospheric elements. Then the packages are transported in refrigerated trucks and maintained, prior to sale to the consumer, in refrigeration or deep freeze boxes and the consumer after purchase of the package 6 may store it until the cookies 14 are to be baked and the same may be stored in the interim in a home deep freeze unit or refrigerator.
The crimping operation is accompanied by slight heating to elfectuate a seal which is hermetically effective, the degree of heat utilized being preferably the heat of fusion of the wax coating on the paper.
The package 6 is provided with separating means generaliy designated 35 which consists of spirally coiling the top element at each corner as indicated at 16 and the bottom element 8 as indicated at 17, so that each spiral coil 16 and 17 may be grasped by the fingers, and in pulling the same apart the crimping will be caused to separate and thus the cookies will be exposed and accessible for placing on a cookie sheet for baking and subsequent consumption.
The package 6 as illustrated can be made of transparent material, or translucent material, so that it will afford the purchaser or consumer an opportunity to see the product before purchase.
While the invention has been herein described in its preferred form it is to be understood that it i not limited to the specific construction herein shown and that it may be practiced in other forms without departing from the spirit and scope thereof.
Having thus described and revealed my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A refrigerator cookie package, comprising a lower sheet, a multiplicity of cookie element placed on said lower sheet, an upper sheet positioned congruently over said lower sheet and over said cookie elements, crimp-- ing means securing said sheets hermetically perimetri-- cally and along longitudinal and transverse lines effectu-- ating a multiplicity of hermetically sealed compartments, each of said compartments confining a cookie element therein, and separating means at the corner of said sheets, the said separating means including spirally coiled means disposed on said upper and lower sheets of said package to alford substantially solid cylindrical gripping portions to permit partition of said sheets by thefingers for removal of cookie elements confined therein.

A refrigerator cookie package, comprising a lower sheet, a multiplicity of cookie elements placed on said lower sheet, an upper sheet positioned congruently over said lower sheet and over said cookie elements, and crimping means securing said sheets hermetically perimetrically and along longitudinal and transverse lines effectuating a multiplicity of hermetically sealed compartments, each of said compartments confining a cookieeleinent therein, said separating means at the corner of said sheets, the said separating means including spirally coiled means disposed on said upper and lower sheets of said package to afford substantially solid cylindrical gripping portions to permit partition of said sheets by the fingers for removal of cookie elements confined therein. 1

Claims (1)

1. A REFRIGERATOR COOKIE PACKAGE, COMPRISING A LOWER SHEET, A MULTIPLICITY OF COOKIE ELEMENTS PLACED ON SAID LOWER SHEET, AN UPPER SHEET POSITIONED CONGRUENTLY OVER SAID LOWER SHEET AND OVER SAID COOKIE ELEMENTS, CRIMPING MEANS SECURING SAID SHEETS HERMETICALLY PERIMETRICALLY AND ALONG LONGITUDINAL AND TRANSVERSE LINES EFFECTUATING A MULTIPLICY OF HERMETICALLY SEALED COMPARTMENTS, EACH OF SAID COMPARTMENTS CONFINING A COOKIE ELEMENT THEREIN, AND SEPARATING MEANS AT THE CORNER OF SAID SHEETS, THE SAID SEPARATING MEANS INCLUDING SPIRALLY COILED MEANS DISPOSED ON SAID UPPER AND LOWER SHEETS OF SAID PACKAGE TO AFFORD SUBSTANTIALLY SOLID CYLINDRICAL GRIPPING PORTIONS TO PERMIT PARTITION OF SAID SHEETS BY THE FINGERS FOR REMOVAL OF COOKIE ELEMENTS CONFINED THEREIN.
