The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in anchoring means for securing a toilet bowl to concrete or other type floors for connection with the usual soil pipe.

An important object of the invention is to cement the base of toilet bowl anchoring bolts to the floor and thus eliminate drilling the floor in order to embed the bolts therein.

Another object is to simplify and otherwise improve and save time, labor and material in the installation of the toilet bowl.

These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the toilet bowl;

Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary vertical sectional view of the bowl and illustrating one type of base for anchoring the bowl to the floor;

Figure 3 is an enlarged perspective view of the anchoring base and bolt;

Figure 4 is an enlarged perspective view of the bolt removed from the anchoring base;

Figure 5 is an enlarged perspective view of a modified bolt and anchoring base therefor;

Figure 6 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view of the modified construction;

Figures 7 and 8 are perspective and sectional views, respectively, of a further modification; and

Figures 9 and 10 are also perspective and sectional views, respectively, of another modification.

Referring now to the drawings in detail, and first with respect to the form of invention illustrated in Figures 1 to 4, inclusive, the numeral 5 designates an anchoring or attaching plate of metal, plastic or other suitable material and formed with a central raised rectangular or other polygonal-shaped housing 6, while the plate forms flanges 7 projecting outwardly at each side of the housing and provided with openings 8.

A bolt 9 is formed at one end with a base plate 10 of a shape adapted to conformably fit in the housing 6 while the bolt extends upwardly through a central opening 11 in the top of the housing.

A plurality of anchoring plates 5 are cemented to a floor 12, the cement working into the openings 8 to aid in anchoring the plates in position for placing the bolts in openings 13 in the base flange 14 of a toilet bowl and nuts 15 are threaded on the upper ends of the bolts to secure the bowl to the floor.

The modified construction illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 comprises an anchoring or attaching plate 16 having a "ice solid raised apertured boss 17 in which the lower end of a bolt or stud 18 is threaded. The marginal edges or flange 19 of the plate are formed with openings 20 to receive cement to anchor the plate to a floor and the bolt 18 extends upwardly through an opening 21 in the base flange 22 of the toilet bowl to receive a nut 23 for securing the bowl to the floor.

In Figures 7 and 8, the lower end of bolt or stud 24 is welded or otherwise secured to an anchoring plate 25 which is formed with openings 26 and cemented to the floor, the base flange 27 of the toilet bowl being attached to the bolt, as heretofore described.

Figures 9 and 10 show an anchoring plate 28 having a pair of upstanding spaced parallel flanges 29 rising from an opening 30 in the plate and opposed horizontal flanges 31 project from the vertical flanges 29 to form a pair of spaced apart lips under which a base plate 32 at the lower end of a bolt 33 is slidable. The marginal edges of plate 28 are also formed with openings 34 to aid in cementing the anchoring plate to a floor. Bolt 33 is attached to the base flange 35 of a toilet bowl as heretofore described.

From the foregoing, the construction and operation of the device will be readily understood, and further explanation is believed to be unnecessary. However, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the appended claim.

What is claimed as new is as follows:

An anchoring fixture comprising an attaching plate having a raised rectangular central portion recessed at the underside of the plate and said plate having flange portions projecting outwardly in a common plane beyond all sides of said central portion, and a bolt having a rectangular head fitted in said central portion of the plate, said bolt passing upwardly through an opening in the central portion and adapted for anchoring a toilet bowl to a floor, said outwardly projecting flange portions of the plate having a continuous row of openings therein circumscribing the raised central portion whereby adhesive cement may be applied to the flange portions and the plate pressed to the floor, the openings thus receiving excess cement to permanently secure the plate to the floor.
