3 Claims. (Cl. 220-113) This invention relates to bottle carriers, having particular reference to a bottle carrier made from a single blank of die-cut and scored paper-board material, folded and secured in collapsed condition and which, after being opened and once used, is intended to be disposed of by the user.
Generally, it is an object of the invention to provide such a bottle carrier that is economic of manufacture, simple, but sufficiently durable and attractive, and otherwise well suited to the purposes for which it is intended.
Specifically, it is an object of the invention to provide a bottle carrier made from a single blank of paper-board material which provides uninterrupted side and end walls for maximum advertising space, maximum protection between longitudinal and transverse partitions positively to prevent bottles from touching, thereby avoiding so-called bottle click, by the construction and arrangements of such partitions, and to provide a stronger carrier, more neat in appearance, with the bottle tops flush with the top of the handle carrying section, thus making vertical stacking possible while still exposing a substantial portion of all of the bottles and labels equally and to the same extent.
More specifically, it is an object of the invention to provide a single die-cut and scored blank of paper-board material to be folded and secured together in collapsed form for use, when opened, as a non-returnable bottle carrier, comprising a rectangularly shaped panel divided into two identical portions along a transverse fold line to provide connected, integral longitudinal partition sections and inner carrying handle sections, securable to each other, a transverse partition section cut from each longitudinal partition section securable to an opposite side wall, each carrying handle section having a handhole therein, a first elongated panel section laterally extending from the same side of each longitudinal partition section which is also divided along transverse score lines and foldable into an end wall, an end wall extension and a transverse partition securable to an opposed longitudinal partition section, the end wall extension being securable to an opposed side wall section, a second elongated panel section extending from the other edge of each longitudinal partition section, and likewise being foldable along a transverse score line into an opposite end wall section and a side wall, a foldable bottomwall, and a third elongated panel section foldable along a second transverse score line into outer carryinghandle sections and securable to the inner carrying handle sections.
Other objects of the invention will in part be obvious and will in part appear hereinafter.
The invention accordingly comprises an article of manufacture possessing the features, properties, and the relation of elements which will be exemplified in the article hereinafter described and the scope of the application of which will be indicated in the claims.
For a fuller understanding of the nature and objects of theinvention reference should be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a die-cut and scored blank embodied by the invention;
Flifg. 2 illustrates the blank of Fig. 1 once folded upon itse Fifg. 3 illustrates the blank of Fig. 2 again folded upon itsel Fig. 4 represents the blank of Fig. 3 again folded upon itself;
Fig. 5 shows the blank of Fig. 4 folded and secured in final collapsed shipping condition;
Fig. 6 depicts the collapsed bottle carrier of Fig. 5 opened or squared to receive bottles;
Fig. 7 is a top view of Fig. 6;
Fig. 8 is a transverse vertical sectional view taken along the lines 8-8 of Fig. 7 and looking in the direction of the arrows;
Fig. 9 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view taken along the lines 99 of Fig. 8 and looking in the direction of the arrows; and
Fig. 10 is a fragmentary perspective view of the bottom panel supporting hook.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, there is indicated generally at 11 a preferred form of die-cut and scored blank embodied by the invention.
The blank 11 comprises a central, rectangularly shaped panel indicated at 12 and is divided into two identical portions 13 and 14 along a transverse score line 15.
Each portion 13 and 14 is composed. of integral, longitudinal partition sections 16 and 17 and inner carrying handle sections 18 and 19, foldable along the score line 15 and securable to each other, as will more fully appear hereinafter.
A transverse partition section 20 is centrally cut from each longitudinal partition section 16 and 17 around the line 21, but hingedly connected to each longitudinal partition section along the score line 22. Each transverse partition section 20 is defined by the score line 22 and score line 23 and terminates in a glue flap 24 so that the same is T-shaped in configuration.
Each identical portion 13 and 14 also has a cut-out corner portion indicated at 25 providing a hook 26 for supporting the bottom panel or wall as will more fully appear hereinafter.
An elongated panel section, indicated generally at 27,
laterally extends from the same side or edge of each longitudinal partition section 16 and 17 along the score line 28. Each panel section 27 is divided along transverse score lines 28 and transverse score lines 29, 30 and 31 into an end wall section 32, an end wall extension 33,
3 a first transverse partition section 34 and a glue flap 35,
the latter being securable to an opposed longitudinal partition section, each end wall extension 33 being secur able to an opposed side wall section :as will more fully appear hereinafter.
A second elongated panel section indicated generally at 36 laterally extends from the opposite side of each longitudinal partition section 16 and 17 beginning along the transverse score line 37. Each'panel section 36 is divided along score line 37 and transverse score line 38 into end walls 39 and side walls 40. One side wall 40 preferably has a glue flap 41 thereon hinged along the score line 42, andthe other side wall 40 has a bottom panel or wall indicated generally at 43 hinged thereto along the score line44. The bottom 43 also has a transversescore line 45 terminating in a cut-out portion 46 tion as wide as its end wall section and as long as a side wall, and a glue flap respectively, the latter being tucked under the first transverse partition section and secured against an adjacent longitudinal partition section centrally to overlie said T-shaped opening as a barrier between opposed bottles, and said end wall extension being secured to an adjacent side wall with said second transverse partition section folded between an opposed side wall and longitudinal partition section; a second elongated panel section extending from the opposite side of each longitudinal partition section, each said second panel section being divided along a transverse score line and folded into an opposite end wall section and side wall; a bottom panel hingedly connected to the bottom of one of said side walls, divided by a transverse score line into two portions overfolded upon each other, connected to the bottom of the opposite side wall; and a third elongated panel section extending from said handle carrying section severed from said second panel section and from the adjacent end wall section, and being divided by a second transverse score line, into outer carrying handle sections, having hand-holes therein, folded along said second score line which overlies said first transverse score line, and said outer carrying handle sections being laminated to said inner carrying handle sections with all hand-holes in alignment.
3. A collapsible, non-returnable bottle carrier, made from a single blank of paper-board material, die-cut, scored, folded and secured together into squared bottle carrying position, which comprises a rectangularly shaped panel divided into two identical portions along a first transverse score line to provide two connected, integral longitudinal partition sections and inner carrying handle sections, folded along said score line and laminated to each other to form a double wall longitudinal partition and carrying handle section; a first T-shaped transverse partition section centrally cut from within the confines of each longitudinal partition section, and providing a T-shaped opening therein, but hingedly connected thereto, laterally extending therefrom, and
