Description

Jan. 31, 1956 w. H. HOLT PERFUME CONTAINER FOR PERSONAL WEAR Filed Dec. 7, 1953 zzvmvrozz.
William H. Half uh m EM United States Patent PERFUME CONTAINER FOR PERSONAL WEAR William H. Holt, Los Angeles, Calif.
Application December 7, 1953, Serial No. 396,418
2 Claims. (Cl. 299-20) The present invention relates to a specially designed container for perfumes and has more particular reference to one which may, if desired, be ornamental so as to adorn the person of the wearer and is constructed so that it may be attached to the apparel of the wearer, either conspicuously or inconspicuously, as desired.
In carrying out a preferred embodiment of the over-all concept, the container preferably comprises a small case which is charged with the desired perfume, has one or more discharge openings for the perfumed vapors and a closing cap, or caps, whereby the fragrant or perfumed vapors are emitted through the capped discharge ports according to the discretion of the user.
Another objective has to do with the provision of a case which is either plain or ornamental in design and which is provided on its interior with core means, said core means being made up of a group of interconnected, open-ended tubes having small bores charged with absorbent cotton or the like and adapted to be saturated with volatile liquid perfumes of the desired fragrance or scent and wherein through the medium of the vented capped ends, a user may cause the'pleasant vapors to be emited, whereby to permit the wearing of expensive perfumes without stains to the clothing, and increasing the length of time the perfume may be worn by retarding the evaporation of the perfume from the capillary filler media.
More explicitly, the invention appertains to a perfume containing and fragrance liberating device comprising a clasp-equipped case having domical ends provided with discharge ports and ported caps for selectively opening and closing said discharge ports, and core means mounted in said case and comprising a multiplicity of small openended tubes clustered together to form a multitube unit, the ends of the tubes terminating inwardly of and spaced from the respective discharge ports, each tube having a filler of absorbent material therein.
Other objects, features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying sheetof illustrative drawings.
In the drawings, wherein like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a perfumery container constructed in accordance with the principles of the present invention and illustrating the preferred embodiment of the same;
Figure 2 is an enlarged section on the longitudinal line 2-2 of Figure 1 looking in the direction of the arrows; and
Figures 3 and 4 are cross-sections on the lines 33 and 4-4 of Figure 1, looking in the direction of the arrows.
The metal or equivalent light Weight case is denoted by the numeral 6 and is relatively small and generally cylindrical in form. Adjacent the ends are inbent endless shoulders 88 and projecting beyond the shoulders are duplicate domical ends 10-10. These ends are provided with one or' more perfume emitting or discharging 2,733,098 Patented Jan. 31, 1956 2;, 1' j ports 1212. The aforementioned. attachable and de* tachable closing caps are denoted by the numerals 14-14 and these conform in shape with the. domical ends and they, too, have ports 16-16 which, as. shown best in Figure 4, are adapted to register with the ports. 12 12, thus to open and close the perfumed chamber within the case and to allow the emitted vapors to be selectively and appropriately controlled.
The aforementioned core means in the chamber or space of the case is denoted here, in a unitary sense, by the numeral 18. It is adapted to be charged with pet'- fume of a liquid volatile type so that the vapors emitted or emanating from the perfume product are trapped in the respective end or head portions and are allowed to escape according to wishes by way of the valving action of the ported ends and closing caps. The core means is made up of small capillary glass tubes denoted by the numerals 20. These are disposed along side one another and connecetd in grouped or assembled relationship in any suitable manner to make up the unit. The unit fits in the central space between the respective shoulders 83. Each tube is charged or filled with absorbent filters or absorbent cores 22 in the mannershown.
Reviewing, it will be seen that the metal case is so construcetd that it may be worn by the individual either concealed or exposed and also will permit the individual to open and close the end caps as desired so as to release or seal the perfume vapors at will. The metal case equipped with a multiplicity of small capillary glass tubes containing absorbent filters of a retarding nature permits such saturating the latter with expensive or inexpensive perfumes, as desired. The capillary glass tubes and absorbent filters are construcetd of very small dimensions to retard the evaporation of perfume in inverse ratio to the length of the time the perfume is used. For purposes of attaching the device to the apparel or clothing, suitable clasp or clip means is provided. The clasp shown in Figure 1 comprises a pointed resilient finger or tine 24 rigidly secured at one end and releasably connectable at its opposite end to a keeper book 26 on the case in the manner illustrated. The device may be attached, therefore, to the undergarments, outer garments, suit coats or even placed in a handbag by pinning to the lining of the handbag, or, for that matter, merely carrying it in the handbag much in the practice of an encased lipstick or the like.
From the foregoing, the construction and operation of the device will be readily understood and further explanation is believed to be unnecessary. However, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the appended claims.
What is claimed as new is as follows:
1. As a new article of manufacture, a perfume containing and scent liberating device comprising a case which is essentially imperforate and provided with at least one vapor discharge port, and means carried by said case for optionally opening and closing said port, said means being a readily attachable and detachable cap having a port which isconveniently registerable with said first named port, and clasp means secured to said case, whereby it may be handily atached to ones apparel and worn,'much like an ornament, and the combination therewith of core means fitted into said case and characterized by a plurality of open-ended tubes each packed with an absorbent filler which, in turn, is adapted to be charged with a liquid perfume.
2. As a new article of manufacture, a perfume containing and fragrance liberating device comprising a clasp equipped ease having ends provided with discharge ports and ported caps for selectively opening and closing said discharge ports, and core means mounted in said case and comprising a multiplicity of small open-ended tubes clustered together to form a multitube unit, the ends of the tubes terminating inwardly of and spaced from the respective discharge ports, each tube having a filler of absorbent material therein.
