(Cl. 150-52) Mass., assignor to Mass., a corporation This invention relates to carrying cases and more particularly to cases for carrying cameras and/or photographic accessories such as film, flash guns, flash bulbs, exposure meters and the like.

ever, in order to convert the handbag to shoulder-carrying use, one end of each detachable strap guide 38 (not shown in Fig. 4) is disengaged from rear wall 14 and the strap slidably moved, through the fixed guide members 36 on the base and fixed guide members 34 on the front wall 12, by exerting a pulling force on grip portion 56, so that elongated sections 46 and 43 extend only under the base 20 and up the front wall 12 of the carrying case to a position well beyond the top wall or cover 22. in this embodiment, since section 59 of the strap, rather than section 52, extends between the pair of fixed metal guide members 36 on the base of the carrying case, keeper member 58 is preferably detachably secured to grip portion 56 rather than to grip portion 54.
In the just-described embodiment of the invention, it will be appreciated that whether the handbag is handor shoulder-carried, the elongated strap sections 46 and 58 extending up the front wall 12 would substantially prevent accidental opening of the flap 24 of the bag.
While strap guide members 34 and 36 have been described as being made, for example, of leather and metal, respectively, it should be understood that guides 34 could be formed from metal and guides 36 from leather, or both guides 34 and 36 could be leather or metal, or even a suitable plastic material.
It should further be understood that the keeper member 58, which may be formed from plastic materials or rubber rather than leather, may, if desired, be detached from the grip portion to which it is secured when the carrying case is worn suspended from a shoulder of a wearer.
Since certain changes may be made in the above article of manufacture and different embodiments of the invention could be made without departing from the scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the foregoing description or shown in the accompanying drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
What is claimed is:
1. A carrying case comprising a front wall, a rear wall, a base, a cover, a first pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to said base, a second pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to one of said front and rear walls, a third pair of strap glide members detachably secured to the other of said front and rear walls, and an endless carrying strap, said strap being slidably engaged by at least said first and second pairs of guide members.
2. A carrying case comprising a front wall, a rear wall, a base, a cover, a first pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to said base, a second pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to one of said front and rear walls, a third pair of strap guide members detachably secured to the other of said front and rear walls, and an endless carrying strap comprising two elongated sections and two short sections, said elongated sections being sufiiciently long to encompass said front wall, said base and said rear wall and to extend beyond the cover of said carrying case, said strap being slidably engaged by at least said first and second pairs of guide members.

A carrying case comprising a front wall, a rear wall, a base, a cover, a first pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to said base, a second pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to one of said front and rear walls, a third pair of strap guide members detachably secured. to the other of said front and rear walls, and an endless carrying strap comprising two elongated sections and two short sections, said elongated sections being sufficiently long to encompass said front wall, said base and said rear wall and to extend beyond the cover of said carrying case, said strap being slidably engaged by said first and second pairs of guide members and detachably engaged by said third pair of guide members.

A carrying case comprising a front wall, a rear wall, a base, a cover, a first pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to said base, a second pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to one of said front and rear walls, a third pair of strap guide members detachably secured to the other of said front and rear walls, and an endless carrying strap comprising two elongated sections and two short sections, said elongated sections being sufiiciently long to encompass said front wall, said base and said rear wall and to extend beyond the cover of said carrying case, said strap being slidably engaged by said first and second pairs of guide members and detachably engaged by said third pair of guide members, said third pair of strap guide members being adapted, when operatively secured to said other wall, to hold and guide said strap so as to render the carrying case suitable for hand carriage and, when inoperatively secured to said other wall, being adapted to render said case suitable for shoulder carriage.
5. A carrying case comprising a front wall, a rear wall, a base, a cover, a first pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to said base, a second pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to one of said front and rear walls, a third pair of strap guide members detachably secured to the other of said front and rear walls, and an endless carrying strap comprising two elongated sections and two short sections, one of said elongated sections being slidably engaged by one member of each of said first and second pairs of guide members and adapted to be detachably engaged by one member of said third pair of guide members, the other of said elongated sections being slidably engaged by the other member of each of said first and second pairs of guide members and adapted to be detachably engaged by the other member of said third pair of guide members, each of said short sections being provided wtih a grip portion, said third pair of strap guide members being adapted, when operatively secured to said other wall, to hold and guide said strap so as to render the carrying case suitable for hand carriage and, when inoperatively secured to said other wall, being adapted to render said case su'table for shoulder carriage.

A carrying case comprising a front wall, a rear wall, a base, a cover, a first pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to said base, a second pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to one of said front and rear walls, a third pair of strap guide members detachably secured to the other of said front and rear walls, and an endless carrying strap comprising two elongated sections and two short sections, one of said elongated sections being slidably engaged by one member of each of said first and second pairs of guide members and adapted to be detachably engaged by one member of said third pair of guide members, the other of said elongated sections being slidably engaged by the other member of each of said first and second pairs of guide members and adapted to be detachably engaged by the other member of said third pair of guide members, each of said short sections being provided with a grip portion, one of said grip portions having detachably secured thereto a keeper member adapted to encompass at leastsaid one of said grip portions, said third pair of strap guide members being adapted, when operatively secured to said other wall, to hold and guide said strap so as to render the carrying case suitable for hand carriage and, when inoperatively secured to said other wall, being adapted to render said case suitable for shoulder carriage.
7. A carrying case comprising a front wall, a rear wall, a base, a cover, a first pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to said base, a second pair of strap guide members fixedly secured to one of said front and rear walls, a third pair of strap guide members detachably secured to the other of said front and rear walls, and an endless carrying strap comprising two elongated sections and two short sections, one of said elongated sections being slidably engaged by one member of each of said first and second pairs of guide; members and adapted to be detachably engaged by one member of said third pair of guide members, the other of said elongated sections being slidably engaged by the other member of each of said first and second pairs of guide members and adapted tions, said carrying case being characterized by the fact that it is adapted for shoulder carriage by disengaging the elongated sections of the strap from said third pair of guide members and exerting a pulling force on that short section to which said keeper member is secured, thereby causing said elongated sections to slidably move second pairs of guide members until the last-named short section is located beyond said cover by substantially half the length of one of said elongated sections and the other short section is located between each guide member of said first pair of guide members.
8. A carrying a base, a cover, secured to said fixedly secured guide members and an endless carrying strap comprising two elongated case comprising a front wall, a rear wall, a first pair of strap guide members fixedly gated sections being slidably engaged by the other member of each of said first and second pairs of guide members and adapted to be detachably engaged by the other member of said third pair of guide members, each of said short sections being provided with a grip portion, said elongated sections being long enough to extend completely around the case through said guides so as to permit the grip portion of said short sections to be in engagement with one another, that grip portion forming part of the short section joining the extremities of the elongated sections slidably associated with said rear wall having detachably secured thereto a keeper member adapted to encompass said gn'p portions, said carrying case being characterized by the fact that it is adapted for shoulder carriage by disengaging the elongated sections of the strap from said third pair of guide members and exerting a pulling force on that short section to which said keeper member is secured, thereby causing said elongated sections to slidably move through said first and second pairs of guide members until the last-named short section is positioned beyond said cover by substantially half the length of short section is positioned between each guide member of said first pair of guide members.

A carrying case comprising a front wall, a rear wall, a base, a cover, a first pair of metal strap guide members fixedly secured to said base, a second pair of leather strap guide members fixedly secured to said rear Wall, a third pair of leather strap guide members detachably secured to said front wall, and an endless carrying strap comprising two elongated sections and two short sections, one of said elongated sections being slidably engaged by one member of each of said first and second pairs of guide members and adapted to be detachably engaged by one member of said third pair of guide members, the other of said elongated sections being slidably engaged by the other member of each of said first and second pairs of guide members and adapted to be detachably engaged by the other member of 'said third pair of guide members, each of said short sections being provided with a grip portion, said elongated sections being long enough to extend completely around the case through said guides so as to permit the grip portion of said short sections to be in engagement with one another, that grip portion forming part of the short section joining the extremities of the elongated sections slidably associated with said rear wall having detachably secured thereto a one of said elongated sections and the other r adapted to be detachably engaged by one member of said third pair of guide members,
