It is an object of the invention to nozzle construction which trol in regard to the contour, direction and diffusion of the discharged air flow.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear clear from consideration of the following description of one practical form of the invention by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings,
Fig. I is a vertical section, and
Fig. II is an underneath plan view of Fig. I.
In the drawings, is an outer cylindrical casing shown mounted in a ceiling construction 12 and connected at a duct system 14, by
Each blade 16 is slidably retained at its upper and reduced end 16' in a bracket structure 18 and at its lower end is anchored to a ring structure 20 mounted in an exterior channel section 22 of the cylinder 10 so as to be capable of partaking of limited oscillatory motion by suitable control actuator means.
Each blade is shown with a crank arm 24 at its lower end presenting a vertical portion 24 which is guided for oscillatory motion in an arcuate slot 26 in the bottom of the channel section 22.
The construction and arrangement is such that by appropriate actuation of the given a twisted set or pitch to the ring 20.
Actuation of the ring 20 can be arranged to be effected in a variety of ways, manually, mechanically or electrically and can be under thermostatic control.
In the drawings, actuation of the ring 20 is arranged to be effected by what is known in the aircraft field as a linear actuator including a geared motor and piston assembly, indicated generally at 28, having an extendible and retractable rod element 30 guided for movement in an arcuate slot in the side of the channel section 22 and connected with the ring by a linkage 32.
This linear actuator is characterized by a linear motion pounds and It is not necessary that the variable blades 16 should extend entirely from the periphery of the nozzle to the center thereof for the purpose of totally controlling the entire air mass.
said ring means.
4. The invention as defined in claim 1, said mounting means of each of said elements and said ring means at said outlet end comprising a pin and sleeve connection at the other end of said elements.
