ATTCI R N EYS United States Patent SHAVING LIQUID DISPENSER Walter C. Straszer, Los Angeles, Calif.
Application October 9, 1952, Serial No. 313,937
1 Claim. (Cl. 15-138) This invention relates to shaving equipment, and more particularly to a shaving liquid dispenser.
The object of the invention is to provide a shaving liquid dispenser which is constructed so that a predetermined quantity of shaving liquid can be dispensed onto a brush which can be used for lathering the face or other portions of the body.
Another object of the invention is to provide a shaving liquid dispenser that includes a container for holding a quantity of shaving liquid, there being a brush operatively connected to the container, and manually operable valve means for controlling the flow of liquid to the brush.
A further object of the invention is to provide a shaving liquid dispenser which is extremely simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this application, and in which like numerals are used to designate like parts throughout the same:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the shaving liquid dispenser of the present invention, with parts broken away and in section.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on the line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 33 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a view similar to Figure 2, but showing the position of the parts when the valve is open.
Figure 5 is a view similar to Figure 3, but showing the valve open.
Figure 6 is a fragmentary sectional view showing the valve in open position.
Figure 7 is a fragmentary sectional view showing the stop pin.
Figure 8 is a fragmentary sectional view showing the outlet opening.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral 10 designates a container which is adapted to hold a quantity of shaving liquid, and the container 10 is provided with a neck 11 which is threaded exteriorly, Figures 1 and 6. Operatively connected to the neck 11 is a support member 12. The support member 12 may be made of any suitable material and the support member 12 includes a cylindrical sleeve 14 which is provided with internal threads for threadedly engaging the neck 11. The support member 12 is further provided with a transverse annular flange 15.
The flange 15 is provided with a pair of spaced arcuate slots 16, Figures 2 and 4, and arranged in the flange 15 between the pair of slots 16 is a curved channel or slot 18. Formed integral with the lower end of the sleeve 14 or secured thereto is a web 19, and the web 19 has depending therefrom a skirt 20 which may have a tapered formation. The skirt 20 is provided with a pair of opposed openings 21 for the egress therethrough of shaving liquid from the container 10.
Rotatably connected to the body member 12 is a support member 22. The support member 22 may be made of any suitable material and includes a collar 23 which is rotatably arranged around the sleeve 14. Suitable securing elements such as screws or bolts 24 extend through the slots 16 and into the end of the collar 23 for maintaining the body member and support member connected 2,702,396 Fatented Feb. 22, 1955 together. By positioning the parts so that the securing elements 24 are in the enlarged portion 17 of the slot 16, the body member 22 can be removed from the support member 12. A stop pin 25 extends through the arcuate channel 18 and into the collar 23, the stop pin 25 serving to limit rotation of the collar 23 with respect to the sleeve 14.
Formed integral with the collar 23 or secured thereto is a flat portion 26, the flat portion 26 being arranged contiguous to the outer surface of the web 19. Depending from the flat portion 26 is a bracket 29. The body member 22 is further shaped to provide a pocket or socket 27, and positioned in the pocket 27 and secured thereto is a flexible shaving brush 28. The bracket 29 is provided with a pair of openings or cut-outs 30 which are adapted to move into and out of registry with the openings 21 upon manual rotation of the body member 22.
In use, the sleeve 14 of the body member 12 is arranged in threaded engagement with the neck 11 of the container 10 containing the shaving liquid. Then, the support member 22 is circumposed on the body member 12 and the stop pin 25 is inserted through the channel 18 into engagement with the collar 23. Then, to dispense a quantity of the shaving liquid onto the brush 28, the user merely manually rotates the body member 22 until the openings 30 register with the openings 21 whereby fluid or liquid will pass out through these registering openings onto the brush 28. After a suflicient quantity of fluid or liquid has been dispensed onto the brush 28, the body member 22 can be rotated from the position shown in Figure 6 to the position shown in Figure 1 whereby no more fluid will be able to pass through the registering openings. In Figure 3 the openings are shown positioned so that no fluid can pass therethrough, While in Figure 5 the openings 21 and 30 are shown in registry or alignment so that shaving liquid can be dispensed freely onto the brush or brushes 28.
The container 10 may be replaced or refilled when it is empty and when the present invention is being used, the brush 28 may be held under a water faucet in order to facilitate its use. By means of the present invention the task of shaving will be made easier, more convenient, pleasant and sanitary and the tube or container 10 may hold a sufficient quantity of shaving liquid to enable the user to dispense shaving liquid over a long period of time.
I claim:
A liquid shaving dispenser comprising a container adapted to hold a quantity of shaving liquid. an exteriorly threaded neck of reduced diameter extending from said container for the egress therethrough of liquid, a support member including an interiorly threaded sleeve arranged in threaded engagement with said neck, an annular flange arranged transversely with respect to an end of said sleeve and provided with a pair of arcuate slots, each of said slots having an enlarged portion at one end thereof, there being a curved channel in said flange intermediate said slots, a tapering skirt extending downwardly from said support member and provided with a pair of openings therein, a movable body member rotatably connected to said support member. said body member being provided with a pocket. 2. flexible brush extending from said pocket and secured therein, said body member further including a collar rotatably surrounding said sleeve, securing elements extending through said slots and into said collar, a stop pin extending through said channel into said collar, a flat portion extending inwardly from said collar and arranged below said sleeve, and a tapering bracket depending from said flat portion and provided with openings mounted for movement into and out of registry with the openings in said skirt.
