This invention relates in general to an ignition breaker mounting and is more particularly described as a rotatable mounting for a movable spark advance type of ignition breaker. In ignition breaker mountings of this kind, it is customary to mount the movable parts close together upon correspondingly fitted metal elements. In ignition breakers, this practice becomes extremely detrimental as the breakers become used and worn since the friction of one metal part upon the other produces objectionable wearing and soon the movable parts are so worn that the ignition parts are not in the alignment for which they are intended. This results in the wider separation of the ignition points Y or a to and fro weaving motion which produces a variation in the engagement of the ignition cam and this causes pitting and burning of the ignition points or contacts and sometimes resulting in oxidation and bouncing of the points which may be extremely objectionable.
An important object of the invention is therefore in the provision of a rotatable mounting for an ignition breaker in which relatively rotatable parts are provided of diierent materials particularly at the points where they bear upon each other, one of the materials being non-metallic and preferablyl of a plastic composition commonly known as nylon or a similar wear resistant plastic having the same characteristics.
A further object of the invention is to provide a nylon ring seated between two parts of an assembled ignition breaker mounting in such a manner that the nylon ring is protected by metal parts on opposite sides thereof, but the Contact between the metal parts is upon the nylon ring and not upon similar wearing parts of metal.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a new and improved ignition breaker assembly mounting adapted to be used for ignition breakers of all kinds and to be used in connection with automatic spark advance tubes of installation.

A circuit breaker mounting of this kind is Cil particularly designed and intended for a movable spark advance type of ignition breakers which usually has a relatively iixed part and another plate movable with respect to the fixed part upon which the circuit breaker is mounted. The movable plate is then rotated in one direction or another depending upon whether the spark advance is to the right or to the left and thus varying the position of the breaker itself with respect to the cam which rotates within the breaker mounting.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, an ignition breaker I0 of any type either of a new construction or of a conventional type as shown in Fig. 1 has a movable member I2 mounted for rotation about a post I4 with a spring I6 tending to press the outer end of the movable arm so that its contact I8 makes a ilat engagement with a relatively fixed contact 20. Mounted on the member l2 is a projection 22 preferably of fibrous material adapted to be engaged by a cam projection 24 of a rotatable cam 26.
Various types of ignition breakers are commonly used for different ignition breaker systems used principally upon the ignition systems of different automobiles and the exact construction of the ignition breaker has no particular part in this invention since all ignition breakers of this type are subject to the same objection, that is, that they will wear unduly if the ignition breakers are mounted upon the conventional type of mountings having metal to metal contacts of the parts.
In the present invention, the ignition breaker is mounted upon a top plate which preferably has a dat face on one side, a central opening 32 and an annular fiat projection 34 on the other or under side which has a shoulder 36 spaced from the inner periphery and a shoulder 38 spaced from the outer periphery of the plate.
A bottom plate 40 of slightly larger diameter than the top plate has a fiat surface on one side and an annular projection or rib 42 surrounding the central perforation 44 thereon on the other side. 'Ihis annular rib 42 is of a Width to nt the space upon the top plate between the inner periphery thereof and the shoulder 36 of its annular projection, the openings 32 and 44 of the top and bottom plates respectively being of the same diameter and adapted to t closely together. In order to attach these plates together, one of the plates as the top plate has threaded openings 4B into which small screws 48 are inserted through appropriate openings in the l bottom plate so that upon drawing the screws together more or less tightly, they will draw the plates together.
This construction of the top and bottom plates provides an annular recess between the two plates when they are fastened together, the recess extending from the outer shoulder 38 of the annular fiat projection to the outer peripheries of;` the plates andof the thickness ofi the fiat projection 34 such that a at mounting ring 52 of the proper diameter may be inserted therein. The mounting ring 52 is easily replaced and there is no wear upon the metal plates because they do not come in `wearing contact with each other.
While a preferred construction of the invention has been described in some detail, it should be regarded as an illustration orexample rather than as ay limitation or restriction of the invention, since various changes in the construction, combination and arrangement of the parts may be, madewithout departing from the spirit and scope ofthe invention.
We claim;
