The above series 'of operations 'are performed, .conventionallyinrthe order ,above presented, by .label cutting .and folding machines. Another object of this invention is to provide an improved label cutting and folding machine including means for trimming unsymmetric labels so as to center the label indicia with respect to the folded portions thereof and to provide labels having folded portions of equal length.
A further object of this invention is to provide an improved label cutting and folding machine wherein all adjustments necessary to adapt the maj or components of the machine to varying sizes of labels are automatically and simultaneously varied in accordance with the length of label to be cut and folded.
A further object of this invention is to provide a label cutting and folding machine which is economical and efficient in operation.
Still another object of this invention is to provide an improved label cutting and folding machine that is simple and safe in operation.
Still another object of this invention is to provide an improved label cutting and folding machine of novel construction.
A further object of this invention is to provide an improved label cutting and folding machine which may be easily and quickly adapted to accommodate labels of varying dimensions by unskilled personnel.
A still further object of this invention is to provide an improved label cutting and folding machine wherein the wastage of labels accompanying the adaptation of the machine to labels of varying dimensions is greatly reduced.

The presently preferred embodiment of the invention, as illustrated in the drawings, may generally be described as an improved label cutting and folding machine whose major label operating components may simultaneously be adapted to accommodate labels of varying lengths by a single control in accordance with the length of label to be cut and folded. For the purposes of simplicity and for clarity of explanation, a general description of the major components of the machine, together with their function and general mode of operation, will be initially described and will be followed by a detailed description of the structure, mode of operation, and interrelation of operations of the individual components.
Integrally combined in the presently preferred embodiment of the invention are: (l) a main drive system, including a horizontal rotatable drive shaft fixed in position and having three drive cams iixedly mounted thereon in spaced relationship with each other and adapted to rotate in conjunction with the main drive shaft. Included in the main drive system are a plurality of fixed supporting elements` for the main drive shaft. During operation of the machine, the power for all the mechanical movements of the label operating components is obtained by suitable individual mechanical linkages from the
