COMBINED HowEL AND CROZE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 267,601, dated November 14, 1882.

1o alter the bowel is formed the croze can be made without loss ottime in changing tools, the arrangement being such that neither one will act when the other is at work, all as hereinafter fully described.

I propose to mount these on the same stock, c, locating the bowel-plane near the front end ot' the stock and the croZe-planc 3o near the rear end and in order that the bowelplane may be used rst and without the croze taking ett'ect on the staves, I crook the stock at or about the point r1, between said planes, so that when one touches the circle e for doing its work the other will be clear of it, thereby eilabling me to work either one alone by suitably placing the band on the stockthat is to say, when I want to bowel the cash I take the tool in band at the bowel end, or thereabout, and when I want to croze it I take the tool at the croze end, or thereabout.

The shape of my stock is distinguished from' tbeordinarybowel-planestocksandCroze-plane stocks in being a little longer and having a greater crook or curvature between where the two tools are located than the curvature ofthe said stocks, and also greater than in the parts ot' my stock where the tools are attached. The gage partfot' the stock will be substantial@r the same as in-other tools.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to Secure by Letters Patent- The bowel plane a and the crozeplane b, mounted on one and the same stock, c, and said stock c having a crook or curve at d, or thereabout, greater than in the end portions where the said planes are located, substantially as described.
