Our invention relates toa new andimproved brassire.
One of the objectsY of ourA invention is lto prod vide aebrassire whose body is,made of lightand easily bendable and non-elastic cloth or other material, which is reinforced soas to provide a resilient cup-shape. A
Another object is to provide such atide with.
cup-pads which areconnected to the ybody of theI garment by improvegdkmeans.
Another object is to make an article of this type which will be non-irritating to the skin and which can be made at lowcost.
Other objects and, advantages, and features of the invention arestatedfin xthe'annexed` description and drawings. 1...

proved device.. The parts atthe rear of one cup have been partially separated from the body of the garment, in order to show the internal structure.
Fig. 2 is a front perspective-view of the improved garment.
Fig. l3 is a section on the line 13.-3 of .lfiggl'ff Fig. 4 is an elevationoftheintermediatebody" panel to which the'tape reinforcement is applied." Said reinforcement is applied at the inner face of said intermediate panel.
Fig. 5 is an elevation of the front and rear panels of the garment.
Fig. 6 is an elevation of a pocket panel of the garment.
Fig. 7 is a rear view of a pad.
The garment comprises identical body portions I and Ia, which are provided with respective identical cups C and Ca. Each cup C comprises a front panel 2, an intermediate panel 3, a rear panel 5 and a pocket which is formed at the inner face of each cup C by means of a pocket panel 4. A pad P is located in each pocket. Each pad may be made of soft and resilient foam rubber, or other material. Each pad P has a tapered front Wall, which is of substantial conical shape, preferably with a blunt tip. Each pad P may have a concave rear wall. The pads P are identical and they are slightly oversized relative to their pockets so that they are held in position while said pads P are slightly bent out of normal shape. A part of each front wall of each pad P abuts the respective pocket panel. The top portion of each pad P is spaced from the apex of the respective pocket panel 4. Fig. 3 is substantially to scale and illustrates the construction in each half of the garment.
The panels 2, 3, 4 and 5 may be made of light mesh material, which may be loosely woven Inaterial. `Such materialisvery light and porous. Separate rings of cloth tape. T are sewed to the inner face of the intermediatepanel 3, by
means of stitches Ta, which also penetrate the front panel -2 andthe panel 3,.in order to connect said panels ily and 3 to each other by means of said stitchesTa. In theassembled garment, the respective rings of .tape Tarelocated between the inner panela3 and the inner'cover panel 5, thus preventing any virritation from said rings o1 tape T. This tape T may be a' Woven bias-cut tape, which is longitudinally'stretchable and elastic.
The original flat cut shapes of the panels 2.
3, 4 and 5 are shown in Figs. 3,` 4 and 5. The panel 3 has original separate edges I2 .and I2a.
The panel 2 has original separate edges' I4 and I4a. The panel 5 has original separate edges I6 and Ilia.
The panel 4 has original separate edges Il and I'Ia.
The intermediate panel 3 'is put on top of the front panel 2, with the edges oisaid panels in registration. Said panels 2 and 3 may be temporarily connected.
Therseparate rings oftape TY are then-'placed' on top of the top face of the panel 3, and the tape is sewed in respective separated rings to the panels 2 and 3, by means of the rings of stitches Ta. This can be done in an ordinary sewing machine, while the tape T of each ring is under any selected tension.
The ends of each tape ring terminate at the respective alined edges I2--I4 and I2a-I4a. The ends of each tape ring may extend slightly beyond said alined edges.
The stitching of these tape rings to panels 2 and 3 provides cups C of tapered and substantially conical contour; when the edges I2, I2a, I4 and Illa are stitched to each other to form the seams S and Sa.
The invention is not limited to this method of xing the tape rings to panels 2 and 3.
The edges I6 and IGa of rear panel 5 are connected by stitches to form seams 5s. The edges I'I and I la of pocket panels 4 are connected to each other by similar stitches. The bases of pads P are then placed upon the respective panels 5 and the respective pocket panels 4 are then stitched to the respective panels 5 by respective circular rows of stitches I8.
The edges of the assembled panels 2, 3 and 5 are then bent inwardly to provide top and bottom abutting folds 2a, 3a, and 5a. Stitches l' strips I vIlla,-Y whiclhare also made of light mesh material. The'central seam IS connects the body portions I- and la, the top and bottom tapes 6 and 9, and the elastic strips l! and lla.`
These strips Il and Ila are stitched to bote tom tapes 9 and to strips I0 and l la.
The garment has the usual shoulder straps and 20a. It also is provided 'with the usual fastening ends which include elastic 24,"eyes 22,
and hooks 23.
Fig, 5 shows a difference in angularity between the edges l4-l4a and l-fla, in order to allow for the different shapes of these panels in the assembled garment.
At their junctions at central seam I9, the tapes 6 and-9 may be connected to each other by supplemental tape strips, in order to reinforce the garment at its central Vertical seam I9.
Inrthis preferred construction, to which the invention 4is not limited, all the parts may be made of cloth, with the exception of pads P and the'elastic strips l I, l la and 24.
We have disclosed a preferred embodiment of our invention, but numerous changes and omissions and additions and substitutions may be madefwithout departing from its scope.
The invention also includes parts ofthe complete device. The body of the improved garment can be easilyfbentA and twisted, because it is free fromv still material, However, the easily bendable and concentric, reinforcing rings of tape cause eali-cup-section to` yieldingly maintain the, desired cup-shape.
EQr .CPIlYerlienGa the assembled panels 2 and 3. may be designated as the outer layer of thel respetiveY cupfsection and the panel 5 may be des-V igftelie as the inner'layer, and the panel 4 may be designated as the intermediate layer.
