:1 Shim- 1 This invention relates to the class of dispensers, and more particularly, to a combined toothbrush holder and tooth paste dispenser.
The primary object of my inyention is to provide a convenient and sanitary storage place for toothbrushes and tooth paste.
Another object of the invention is to provide novel selector means for a toothbrush holder for easy selection by the user of his particular toothbrush.
A further object of the invention is to provide a novel push button means for applying tooth paste to a toothbrush.
Still another object of the invention resides in the combination of novel toothbrush selector means with a push button operated mechanism for applying tooth paste to a toothbrush.
Still another object resides in the provision of a mechanism for eliminating the necessity of replacing the tooth paste tubes cap thereupon.
Still further objects reside in the provision of a combined toothbrush holder and tooth paste dispenser that is strong, durable, efficient in operation, sanitary, convenient to use, simple in construction and manufacture, relatively inexpensive, and especially pleasing in appearance.
These, together with the various ancillary objects of the invention which will become apparent as the following description proceeds, are attained by this combined toothbrush holder and tooth paste dispenser, a preferred embodiment of which has been illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the combined toothbrush holder and tooth paste dispenser, comprising the present invention;
Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional view of the device as taken along line 2-2 in Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view of the invention, showing the manner in which the tooth paste is applied to the toothbrush;
Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view as taken along line 4-4 in Figure 3;
Figure 5 is a vertical sectional view as taken along line 5-5 in Figure 2; and,
Figure 6 is a horizontal sectional view showing the manner in which the tooth paste is applied to the toothbrush.
With continuing reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein like reference numerals designate similar parts throughout the various views, I t designates the base of the device which has a peripheral flange l2 therearound and has a bracket formed integral therewith, designated by reference numeral l4, which has openings 2 therein for reception of screws 126 or the "like for securing the device to a wall or other convenient surface.
The base In is provided with a substantially central opening [8. A.-whe el or disk holder 20 is positioned within the .opening .18 and is held in such position by means of the shaft 22 which is journaled in the transparent plastic housing or cap 24. The cap 24 is secured to the base, and a knurled selector knob 26 is secured to the shaft. The disk holder 20 is provided with a plurality of spaced notches 28 through which the handles of toothbrushes may pass. The lower bristles of the toothbrushes are suitably positioned so as to rest on the disk holder 20. The holder 20 may be suitably rotated by rotating the knurled selector knob 26 until the notch 28 holding a particular toothbrush is in alignment with an aperture 3B in the base. Then, as best shown in Figure 3, the toothbrush may be rotated and easily removed from the holder.
Secured to the base adjacent the aperture 30 is a guide 32 having a narrow passageway 34 therethrough for sliding reception of the cover plate 36. The guide 32 is further provided with a threaded aperture 38 therethrough at substantially right angles to the passageway 34. The cover plate 36 comprises a thin piece of resilient metal which is pivotally secured as at 40 to one end of a cross bar 42 which is formed preferably integrally with a push button slide 44 slidably mounted in a slot 46 in the flange l2.
The flange I2 is provided with thickened portions 48 and 50 about the slot 46. Secured within recesses 52 and 54 in these thickened portions are coil springs 56 and 58 which are suitably secured as at 60 and 62 to the cross bar 42. Preferably integrally formed with the guide 32 is a brace bar 54 which is secured to the base in a position parallel to the inner surface 66 of the cross bar 42.
When the push button 44 is pressed inwardly, the cover plate 36 is slidably removed from before the opening 38. Further depression of the push button will cause the tube of tooth paste screwed in threaded aperture 38 to emit tooth paste as shown in Figure 6. The springs 56 and 58 will continuously urge the push button 44 away from the tube of tooth paste. When it is desired to apply tooth paste to a toothbrush, the selector knob is merely rotated until the desired toothbrush is adjacent the aperture 30. Then the toothbrush is rotated so as to align it with the aperture 38. The push button is then merely pressed in, the tooth paste being applied to the surface of the bristles of the toothbrush. By making the cap 24 of a transparent material, the entire operation is readily available for inspection. The cap 24 protects the tooth paste and toothbrushes from dust or other deliterious substances, and is preferably molded or pressed from suitable plastics. While preferably made completely clear, it may be suitably tinted with a desired color for the ornamental value thereof.
Since from the foregoing, the construction and advantages of this combined toothbrush holder and tooth paste dispenser is readily apparent, further description is believed to be unnecessary.
However, since numerous modifications will readily occur to those skilled in the art after a consideration of the foregoing specification and accompanying drawings, it is not intended to limit the invention to the precise embodiment of holder and dispenser shown and described, but
all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to which fall within the scope of the invention, what is 4 paste dispensing container on said base, a housing including a top, mounted on the base and enclosing the container, a shaft journaled in the top and depending therefrom, a disk on the lower end of the shaft, operable in the opening, means for mounting a plurality of tooth brushes on the disk, and an operating knob on the upper end of the shaft for rotating the disk for selectively positioning the tooth brushes for receiving paste from the container, said knob resting on the housing top for suspending the shaft therefrom.
