(01. 223-27) I iii: The invention relates to new and useful 1mprovements in a foldable fiber container which is especially adapted for crating eggs, fruits and the like for commercial handling.
An object of the invention is to provide a fiber, container by slitting and scoring fiat fiber blanks,
wherein the container when assembled includes an inner body, a liner for the bottom and end walls of said body, outer protecting walls for said body and partitions for dividing the body into cells of substantially equal capacity.
A further object of the invention is to provide a container of the above type wherein the outer protecting walls include end walls, half front and rear side walls formed integral therewith and a partition member formed integral with each rear side wall and wherein the front side walls' and the partitions have holding tabs for rigidly securing the container parts in assembled position.

The invention has to do with a fiber container which is made from a plurality of fiber blanks. One of the blanks is shaped, slit and scored so that they may b folded to form when assembled an inner body portion for the container which includes a bottom wall, front and rear side walls, and cover and end members for partially closing the end of the inner body. A liner for the bottom and end walls is made from a separate fiber blank by shaping and scoring so that when the liner is'in assembled position, it fully covers the inner face of the bottom and forms end members constituting inner end walls for the container. Protecting walls for the'inner container body are formed from two blanks similar in shape. These blanks are shaped and scored so thatwhen in assembled position the blanks form outer end walls for the container, outer front and rear side walls and also partition walls which divide the container into cells of substantially equal capacity.
Referring more in detail'to'the drawings the four blanks are indicated in Figural. The blank A forms when assembled the inner body portion,

The inner body blank is slit and scored so as to provide a bottom I, a rear side 2, a cover 3 formed integral with the rear side, a cover flap 4 and a front side wall 5. The bottom member is also provided with extensions 6+6, which when folded form end members for the inner body. The rear side wall is provided with extensions 'l'! which likewise form end members for the inner body. The front side wall 5 has extensions 8--8 and'these extensions when folded'and assembled form a portion of the end walls for the inner body.
In Figure 2, this inner blank A is shown as folded along the score lines indicated in the drawings to form a bottom I and the rear wall 2.
. extends from the bottom of the wall to the top thereof. The front wall is provided with a slot I0 which extends from the bottom part .way toward the top, terminating so as to provide. the wall with a continuous connecting section II.
. .In Figure 3, this inner body is shown in full assembled position. Th liner B is scored so as to provide a bottom Wall [2 and end walls I3-l3. The liner in Figure 3 is shown as placed over the inner body ready for lowering into the body to assembled position,
In Figure 4, this liner is in assembled position and it will be noted that the bottom wall l2 serves as a liner for the bottom of the inner body and it extends from end to end and side to side of said body. The end members of the liner I3-|3 when in assembled position extend from top to H assembled position by the lockingtabs.

The blanks CC are as noted similar in shape and the description of one will answer for the other. Each blank has an end member I4 extending the full height and width of the outer end face of the container. Formed integral with this end member M. a half rear-"wall section l5 and formed "integral with the rear' half wall section I5 is a partition wall l6 provided with a flap ll. Also provided integral with the end member I4 is a front half side .wall; [8 and the front half side wall has aflap 19 formed integral therewith which extends; only part way: of the. height of the side wall. The same is true of the flap 11. They only extend part way of the height of the wall [6.
In this Figure 4, these blanks are shownas in assembled position on the inner body of the container. The end members 14 form outer end walls for the body. The partition"'m'ernbers l 6l 6 are passed through the'slot 9 and the tabs jl l-'ll are passed through the slot H1 in the front wall. These tabs are folded back against the outer face of the front wall of the inner body. The member l5-l5 lie close against the rear wa 1 l and form an outer rear wall section. The tabs is on thefront wall half sections H; are passed through the slot I0 and between the partition members. These front halfv side walls when in position form a front outer wall and the tabs ll ll lie between the inner and outer sections of the front wall of the container. The
tabs l9l9 lie between the partition members 15-16 as clearly shown in Figure 5. The tab 4 tweenthe side walls and if desired, a holding staple may be passed through the partitions and the tabs asindicated at 20. s

It is noted that the container when in final assembled position has a double bottomwall, double end walls and double side wallsand these parts are all rigidly held in The container blanks may be shipped in flat condition to place of use and the container quickly assembled. No stapling of the container is necessary and, therefore, the container, after it has performed its purpose, may be readily disassembled into the -fiat blank condition and these fiat blanks returned to the-packer for reuse.
There are certain kinds of truck shipments which do not require double bottom and ends and, therefore, in containers for such use. the liner l2 and inner end walls l3| 3 will be omitted. When ,when assembled a container comprising a bot- "tom having partial end portions formed integral therewith, front and rear side walls formed integra1 with the bottom wall, partial end walls formed integral f with the front and rear side wallsl each'side'iwall having a transverse slit intermediate the ends thereof, a cover formed integrally withsaid rear wall, and separate blanks providing outer end walls engaging and covering the partial end walls, on the bottom and side ,walls, each outerend wall haying a half rear side wall, a partition wall and a flap, said partition walls extending through the slot in the 'rear'wall and said flaps ext-ending through'the slot in the front wall and folded back against the outer front fwall, each outer end wall having a half front side wall and a flap which extends through the slot in the front wall and between the partition walls.
