claims. (c1. sin-4o) This invention relates to a combined razor and blade changer wherein a supply oi' blades is retained in the handle and in which blades are changed by a simple pull-push operation.
An object of this invention is to provide a razor and blade changer of the character described which Yuses double edge as well as single edge blades and which employs a novel releasable locking means for holding a blade in proper position on the shaving ledge opposite the handle.

Specic reference will now be made to the drawings. In the several views, in the accompanying drawings and in the following specification, similar reference characters indicate corresponding elements throughout.
Indicated generally at I0 is a housing, preferably plastic, which constitutes the handle of the present device which ls open at its rear end as at I4. The front end it is substantially closed except for the provision of a slot adjacent the top for receiving several parts of the invention, as will appear hereinafter. 'I'he substantially rectangular case I3 constitutes a magazine in which blades 20 are received and urged upwardly by means of a spring finger 22 therein. The upper longitudinal edges of the magazine are provided with inturned longitudinal channels 2d which slidably receive a closure 26 so that the magazine serves as a self-contained package for the blades. These channels serve another purpose after removal of the closure as will appear hereinafter. To properly place the magazine in vthe housing, the closure slides out when the magazine is placed fon an elongated bar 28, Fig. 12, which has an upstanding short leg 39 engaging'the front end of the magazine and an upstanding long leg 32 engaging the rear end. The lip 34 serves as a handle whereby the bar and magazine thereon are pushed into the handle housing I0 through its open end as shown clearly in the drawings.
Positioned in the housing on the top of the magazine is an elongated member 3b which is in the form of a relatively flat tube having a depressed shaving ledge 38 at one end. One side of this tube is cut out as at #0 to receive a blade urged therein from the magazine which it overlies and the sides of this tube include longitudinally extending lateral flanges a2 slidably received in the channels 24 of the magazine. The tube at its blade discharge end 44 has a transverse depending lug or iiange 4B which engages the front end of the magazine to properly position the same in the housing. VSlidable in the tube is a blade ejector plate i8 having an inner blade contacting edge 5B coniigurated to conform with one edge of the blade 2c. As a blade is urged by the ejector plate through the discharge opening 44 on the shaving ledge 38, the ejector plate may be releasably held in this position to cover the open upper end of the magazine by a detent 52 at one end of the ejector plate engageable in a recess 54 in the iiat tube 36.
ln operation, the slide fail is depressed to release the detent 52 from the recess or slot 565 and then pulled out to the position shown in Figure 3. To change blades, the cam loci; is pivotcd upwardly as shown in Figure 3 to release the blade, after which a pullpush on the ejector plate or slide will push out a blade on the shaving ledge, the new blade forcing the old blade oil the ledge. The cam latch is then closed again and one can begin shaving, using he plastic housing ifi as a handle.

It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention, the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehend-ed by the spirit of the invention as herein within the scope of the appended described an claims.
Having des Aribed the invention, what is claimed as new is:

The combination of claim 2 wherein said ledge includes longitudinally extending slots through the fre-e end thereof, said guide and holder including a shank having a longitudinal ridge adapted to Vengage in a blade recess, a flat head carried by said shank and legs depending from said head and passing through said slots.

The combination of claim 3 wherein said leg of said guide and holder includes rearwardly extending vlateral lugs having gripping surfaces and said cam latch is a substantially V-shaped body having a rounded apex, one leg or said V- shaped body engaging said gripping surfaces of said lugs to urge said apex into engagement with the blade and wedge it against said fiat head, said V-shaped body being pivoted for vertical movement to said ledge adjacent said apex.
5. A blade changing razor comprising a housing, a magazine in said housing, lades in said magazine and a resilient means urging said blades upwardly, an elongated member secured on the top or" said magazine` and having a portion extending beyond one edge thereof constituting a shaving ledge, said elongated member having a recess therein above said magazine for receiving a blade urged thereinto, an ejector plate slidable in said elongated -member and adapted to push a blade from said recess onto said shaving ledge, and means for releasably retaining a blade on said shaving ledge, said magazine including longitudinally extending channels at the opposite upper side edges thereof, and longitudinally extending flanges on the opposite sides of said elongated member slidably engaging said channels, said elongated member consisting of a substantially nat tubular body, said ejector plate being slidable in said tubular body including detent means for releasably retaining said ejector plate in a position covering said magazine.`
