My invention relates to a combined hose and sprinkler head holder, and more particularly to that type which is to be seated tightly between a sprinkler head and hose coupling and which is provided with a shaft, said shaft being adapted to be struck into the ground at any desired angle, whereby a spray may be directed in substantially any desired direction to sprinkle a lawn or any other surface.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a holder of its kind which has maximum simplicity of construction and which is adapted to hold a hose and sprinkler head securely in substantially any desired position so as to sprinkle a surface effectively.
In the accompanying drawing forming part of this specication, Fig. 1 is a front elevation of my improved holder; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the holder; Fig. 3 is a side elevation showing my improved holder when attached for use between the coupling on the delivery end of a hose and a sprinkler head, and Fig. 4. is a partial section of a detail showing the manner in which the collar or washer of the holder is used between the threaded end of a hose coupling and the sprinkler head.
Referring to the drawing, my improved holder is provided with a shaft A, having a pointed lower end adapted to be struck into the ground at any angle desired. The upper end of the shaft is secured to the perimeter of a circular collarl B by a weld I or other suitable fastening means. The collar is of suitable inner diameter so as to slip closely over the forward externally threaded orifice member II of a hose coupling C and function both as a holder and as a washer.
The hose D is shown provided with coupling C, the latter being provided with the usual supporting sleeve I2 in the end of the hose, and an annular external abutment shoulder I3 between said sleeve I2 and the orice member Il. The orifice member II, sleeve I2 and abutment shoulder I3 are integral and are formed with the usual longitudinal bore or duct I4 therethrough.
The sprinkler nozzle head E as shown is of that type resembling a cylindrical internally threaded cap or body, which is adapted to screw tightly over the corresponding threaded male coupling member I I and engage and lock the collar or washer B firmly against the shoulder C and thus secure the hose D. coupling C and sprinkler head E tightly together as a unit. By fastening these parts together a highly effective holder is produced, the parts of which are not liable to work loose or leak.
The sprinkler head E is of that type having orices or jets I5 which are adapted to reduce the liquid or fluid delivered by the hose into iine streams of spray. Three of these jets I5 are indica-ted in Fig. 3, closely assembled so that the streams of fine spray commingle and produce exceedingly ne vapor or fog which is highly effective in use.
From the above it will be apparent that a simple, compact and economical structure is produced, and in which but few parts are employed. Also a structure is provided which enables the holder to be held firmly in place without working loose or leaking.
I claim:
1. A device of the class set forth, comprising, a hose having its end provided with a threaded male coupling member, a comparatively thin annular anti-leak washer placed over said threaded member and having an integral supporting shaft of a thickness substantially equal to the thickness of said washer, an internally threaded sprinkler head engaged on said coupling member and locking said washer on said memberL and Iiuid commingling spray tips connected with the forward end of said sprinkler head by which a iine fog is projected from said sprinkler head while said shaft is struck into the ground at an angle suitable to direct said fog in desired direction and said washer serving to produce an antileak connection between said sprinkler head and said coupling member.
2. A device of the class set forth, comprising, a hose having its, delivery end provided with a threaded male coupling member, an anti-leak washer placed over said coupling member and having an integral supporting shaft to be struck into the ground, a sprinkler head tightly engaged on said coupling member and locking said washer thereon, and a fog producing tip connected with the forward delivery end of said sprinkler head. whereby a fog is projected at a. predetermined direction produced by said shaft.
