finalisation June ab, 19st', f'seri'al No. Trgers y vsomme. (o1. ima-'umass This invention relates to 'toysvof the-airborne type, and in particular a projectileinithe ferrn 'of a rocket vhavingfresilientV projecting V:means therein-'and a stand in which'lthe'projectile isiemovably held whereby'withlthe"projectile teinporarily held in the stand and an elastic #elei ment drawn rearwardly fand released the force of the impact shoots the projectile from the stand intotheair.
The purpose of this invention isw'to provide a toy rocket 'that is self propelling and: that may readily be shot from a stand or the like.
Various types of propelling'means have been provided for toysand ,particularly for different types of aircraft but owing: tothe popularity of the rocket ships it has been found desirable "to v.provide a toy that maynbefshot into the air. With this thought in mindy this 'invention vcontemplates an elongated tubular projectile having a resilient element therein with the resilient element secured in the forward end of the projectile and having a knob positioned to extend from the rear whereby the knob may be drawn rearwardly and released to provide the propelling means for the projectile.
The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide means for forming a toy in the form of a rocket and whereby the toy may be shot through the air by propelling means incorporated therein.
Another object of the invention is to provide s a toy projectile of the rocket type that may be reused.
Another object of the invention is to provide a combination of a toy projectile and stand whereby the projectile may be discharged from the stand with its own power. y y
A further object of the invention is to provide a toy rocket which is of a comparatively simple and economical construction.
With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention embodies an elongated tubular body having a pointed nose with a plug providing a bumper positioned in the rear end and with a resilient element secured in a bushing in the forward end and provided with a gripping knob on the rear end positioned to impact the plug.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawings wherein:

A projectile is provided' with a pin I6 that extends through the bushing I4 and the ends of the pin are positioned in. sockets I I and I8 ,in bearing elements I9 and 20 of posts 2I and 22, respectively. The posts are mounted on a stand 23 and the upper parts of the postsI are held in spaced relation by a brace 24.
With the pin I6 extended through the body of the projectile or rocket and positioned with the ends in the sockets II and I8 a forwardly exerted force will shoot the projectile forward with the ends of the pin leaving the sockets.
The tubular body I0 of the projectile or rocke is formed with its greatest width at the point 25 i and from this point the wall converges to the nose II and the rear portionalso tapers to a smaller diameter at the rear end in which the plug I2 is positioned. The outer surface of the rear portion oftheV rocket is provided with ns 2B that extend radially outward as illustrated in Figure 3.

Figure 2 is a plan View of the rocket also showing the rocket positioned in the stand.
Figure 3 is an end elevational view looking toend of the knob against the surface of the plug IZLthereby shooting the projectile or rocket forwardly.
` The tubular body I0 may be made,A of thin'plas- 1 tic; paper, or any suitable materialland the nose similar to the knob I5 and the tube is secured in` N the knob by a pin 35. In the design illustrated in Figures 7 and 8 the. rocket is provided with a solid rubber nose 36 with a pin 31 extended therethrough 'andan elastic"- strip 38 extends from the nose, toa knob. 39 that is secured on the outer end ofthe strip by4 a pin 40. This unit is inserted in the tubular body I0 Y with the forward end` of the tubular body mounted onthe shoulder 4I at the rear end of the nose 3e. In'fthis design the outer -shell is Aindicated by the numeralfdZ. g I i i v With the parts arranged this manner the rocket is positioned Yin the stand, as illustrated-in Figures 1,- 2, and ,3 andzwith the stand held inone hand the knob Ifis drawn rearwardly with the Aother land upon release of the knob itjis drawn forwardly by the spring I3 to engage or impact the end of the plug I2 and the force of the impact 30 drives the rock-et or projectile forwardly through the air.
It will be understood that modifications may be made in the design and arrangement of the partswithout departing from the spirit of the .3
invention. f
What Ais claimed is:
1. A toy rocket comprisinga tubular body having a pointed nose and anopen blunt rear end,
4 a bushing in said body adjacent the said pointed nose, a pin extending through said bushing transversely thereof and each end of said pin projecting outwardly of the body, a plug having a longitudinally extending bore and an enlarged impact portion positioned in the open blunt end of said body, a resilient element positioned in said body with one end xed to said pin and the other end extending outwardly of the body through the bore in said plug, a knob on the last said end having an'impact portion thereon adapted to engage the impact portion of said plug and said resilient element is adapted to be extended beyond the end g of said plug by means of manual operation of said knob so that when said knob is released the impact portion thereon will forcibly engage the impact portion on the plug to drive the body forward.
2. A toy rocket as in claim 1 wherein a stand is provided for releasably holding the said body by means of the ends of the pin extending outwardly of the said body.
3. A toy rocket as in claim 1 wherein radially disposed fins are positioned on the exterior'surface of the body adjacent the open blunt end thereof.
