Be it known that I, Isaac Y. GHUBBCK,
` of Roxbury, in the county of `Norfolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Fan-Governors for Steam-Engines and other Motors; and Il do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of thesame, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of thisspecication, in which- Figure l, is a front view of a governor with my improvements. Fig.` 2, is a side View of the same partly in section. Fig. 3,

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention I will proceed to describe its construction and operation. v
A, is the valve box and B, the valve stem. I have not represented the valve as it may be of any of the kinds commonly employed as regulators, but I generally use one of the kind commonly known as the register valve. `On the top of the valve box there is provided a stationary bearing L, for the main spindle C, of the governor which is arranged parallel with the valve stem. This spindle has fast upon it near its rear end a driving pulley G, and near its front end a spur gear b, and is fitted with a loose sleeve D, close behind the said gear b. Thissleeve in which the spindle C, is capable of turning freely, is furnished with a crank like arm E, in which is secured a stud a, upon which the `hub F, of the fan is :fitted to rotate freely.
The said arm E, has a toothed arc i formed upon or attached to its lower extremity and the teeth of this arc gear with a toothed sector I-I, on the valve stem B.
