COAT HANGER WITH INTEGRAL MOTH REPELLENT RECEIVING ENDS Filed May 25, 1950 Patented May 26, 1953 UNITED STATES COAT HANGER WITH INTEGRAL MOTH REPELLENT RECEIVING ENDS Frank OFarrell, Long Beach, Calif., assignor to Dclfra Products 00., Inc., Long Beach, Calif., a corporation of California Application May 25, 1950, Serial No. 164,185
2 Claims.
Ihis invention relates to a novel coat hanger including integral cups at both ends or" the hanger, these cups being adapted and arranged to receive moth repellent material or a moth repellent cartridge so that the gases permeate the articles hung on the hanger.
An object of my invention is to provide a novel coat hanger of the character stated, including integral cups at each end of the hanger, these cups having a detachable oapor cover which can be quickly and easily removed for the purpose of receiving moth repellent material or cartridge.
A feature of my invention is to provide a novel coat hanger of the character stated, which can be molded from plastic in one integral piece with the exception of the detachable covers for the cups, at each end of the hanger.
Still another feature of my invention is to provide a novel coat hanger of the character stated, which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, and which will effectively retain a moth repellent material in both ends thereof.
Other objects, advantages and features of invention may appear from the accompanying drawing, the subjoined detailed description and the appended claims.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a top plan View of my coat hanger.
Figure 2 is a sectional View taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on line 3 3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 44 of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a transverse sectional View taken on line 55 of Figure 1.
Figure 6 is a fragmentary sectional View taken on line 6-6 of Figure 2.
Figure 7 is a fragmentary front elevation of one end of the coat hanger as viewed from line '|'l of Figure 1.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates a coat hanger preferably formed of a moldable plastic material and formed as one integral piece. A hook 2 is mounted in the center of the hanger and is fitted in the lugs 3-3, which are cast in the hanger. The center portion of the hanger consists essentially of a vertical rear wall 4, a top flange 5, and a bottom flange 6.
The top flange or wall 5 tapers inwardly towards the center of the hanger and the prime purpose of this wall is to provide an adequate support for the coat or other garment which is hung on the hanger. The top wall 5 extends to the outer tip of the hanger, as shown in Figures 1 and 2. It will thus be seen that the center part 4 of the hanger is open in the front and consists essentially of a channel-shape in crosssection, as shown in Figure 4.
At both ends of the hanger and integrally formed therewith, I provide a cup I. These cups are closed at the inner end by a transverse wall 8, which is integrally formed with the hanger. To complete the enclosure, I provide a detachable cap or cover 9, which fastens in position by means of lugs or lips it, which grip the inner surface of the cup 7, thus detachably holding the cap or cover in position.
When it is desired to replace or replenish the moth repellent in the cup 1, it is only necessary to pull the cover 9 outwardly, then fill the cup with the proper repellent or cartridge, and then replace the cap 9.
As previously described, the cap or cover has a snap fit to permit the moth repellent gas to pass out of the cup I, and I may provide the cap 9 with suitable holes II and, if desired, the walls of the cup I may also be perforated.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. A coat hanger comprising a main central body portion, said main body portion including outwardly extending arms thereon each of said arms including a top wall, said wall tapering inwardly towards the center of the hanger, a cup integrally formed with each of said arms and at the outer ends thereof and forming a continuation of said arms, said cups each including a top wall forming a continuation of the first named top wall, a bottom wall, a side wall, an inner transverse wall forming one end, an outer end, and one side of said cup being open, a detachable cover enclosing said open side, and means detachably securing said cover on the cups.
2. A coat hanger comprising a main central body portion, said main body portion including outwardly extending arms thereon each of said arms including a top wall, said wall tapering inwardly towards the center of the hanger, a cup integrally formed with each of said arms and at the outer ends thereof and forming a continuation of said arms, said cups each including a top wall forming a continuation of the first named top wall, a bottom wall, a side wall, an inner transverse wall forming one end, an outer end, and one side of said cup being open, a detachable cover enclosing said open side, said covers being snap fitted into said cups.
FRANK OFARRELL.
