PORTABLE CO LLECTION-BOX.
To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, TRUMAN J. Hot/1ER, of the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a new and Improved Portable Col- 'lection-Box; and I do hereby declare that the following isa full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention is the construction of aportable box to receive money, which, when deposited therein, will be secure from abstraction.
To enable others to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
My box is constructed in the shape of a rectangular prism of wood, metal, and glass. The upper part of the front and sides and also the top of the box are partially of glass, exposing to view the upper portion of the interior.
In the drawings and plans hereto attached,
.A represents the top side and front view in projection. B represents a side view. C rep resents a front view. D represents a side section showing the money-inlet and the metallic plate upon which the money falls.
Nos. 6 6 in drawing D represents two ranges of disks movable and hung on pivots in such a manner that theyclose the money-inlet by the action of gravity when the box is inverted, thus preventing the abstraction of money through the inlet by the invertion of the box.
No. 7 in drawing D represents the springs which close the lower section of metallic plate No. 2. Said metallic plate No.2 is composed of two sections, the upper one of which is fixed, and the lower one revolves on a hinge springs No. 7.
No. 8 in A, B, and C represents a slide which passes over and secures drawer No. .t and covers the key-hole to the lock of said drawer No. 4. Said slide No. Sis secured bysmall drawer..

I claim- 1. The whole box as original as a portable collection-box in the peculiar arrangement of its component parts ot glass, wood, and metal, and desire to secure the same by Letters Patent. U
2. The money-inlet as original, it being in the shape of a box without a bottom, through the top of which is inserted a narrow flat tube and between it and the sides of the box are two ranges of disks, which disks close the aperture of the tube when the box is inverted.
