A'n elevator comprising, in combination, a casing; endless conveyor means mounted in said casing for movement with one side thereof upwardly along saidcasing and for movement with the other side thereof downwardly along said casing; an upper drum and a lower drum respectively mounted for rotation in' upper and lower parts of said casing and within upper and lower parts of said endless conveyor means so as to guide the same in said casing, said lower drum resting on said lower part of said endless conveyor means vand being connected to bearings Awhich are freely mounted in said casing so that side of said conveyor means, whereby said first barrier plate means prevents any material fall- 4 ing from said conveyor means from clogging the rotation of said lower drum and whereby said first barrier plate means is movable with said lower drum when said conveyor means becomes elongated; second barrier plate means xedly connected to said casing rand also located just behindsaid one side of lsaid conveyor'means, said second barrier plate means having a lower edge located in overlapping relationship with an upper portion of said first barrier plate means, whereby said iirst and second barrier plate means present a continuous surface for deflecting any falling material from said lower drum; and a supply chute mounted Von said casing in substantially spaced relation to the lowermost part of said conveyor means and terminating adjacent to e said one side of said conveyor means.

An v'elevator comprising, in combination, a casing; endless conveyor means mounted in said casing for movement with one side thereof upwardly along said casing and for movement with the other side thereof downwardly along said casing; an upper drum and a lower drum respectively mounted for rotation in upper and lower parts of said casing and within upper and lower parts of said endless conveyor means so as to guide the same in said casing, said lower drum resting on said lower partof said endless conveyor means and beingconnected to bearings which are freely mounted in said casing so that said lower drum moves downwardly in said casing as said endless conveyor means becomes elongated after a period of usage; first barrier plate means xedly connected to said bearings, enclosing the sides and an upper part of said lower drum, and'being located just behind said one side of said conveyor means, whereby said rst barrier plate means prevents any material falling from said conveyor means from clogging the rotation of said lower drum and whereby said iirst barrier plate means is movable with said lower drum when said conveyor means becomes elongated; second barrier plate means flxedly connected to said casing and also located just behind said one side of said conveyor means, said second barrier plate means having a lower edge located in overlapping relationship with an upper portion of said first barrier plate means, whereby said first and second barrier plate means present a continuous surface for deectingany falling material from said lower drum; a supply chute mounted on said casing in substantially spaced relation to the lowermost part of said conveyor means and terminating adjacent to said one side of said conveyor means; a discharge chute located adjacent kto an upper part of said conveyor means; and inclined barrier plate means located about said upper drum and communicating with said discharge chute so as to direct material falling from said conveyor` meansto said discharge chute.

An elevator, comprising, in combination, a casing; endless conveyor means mounted in said casing for movement -with one side thereof upwardly along said casing and for lmovement with the other side thereof vdownwardly along said casing; an upper drum and a lower drum respectively mounted for rotation in upper and lower parts of said casing and within upper and lower parts of'said endless conveyor means so as to guide the same in said casing, said drums each being substantially cylindricaltand having opposite closed ends,said lower drum resting on said lower part of said endless conveyor means and vbeing connected' toibearings which are freely mounted in said casing so that said lower drum moves downwardly in said casing as said endless conveyor means becomes elongated after a period of usage; first barrier plate means xedly connected to said bearings, enclosing the sides and an upper part of said lower drum, and being located just behind said one side of said conveyor means, whereby said first barrier plate means prevents any material falling from said conveyor means from clogging the rotation of said lower drum and whereby said rst barrier plate means is movable with said lower drum when said conveyor means becomes elongated; second barrier plate means ixedly connected to said casing and also located just behind said one side of said conveyor means, said second barrier plate means having a lower edge located in overlapping relationship ,with an upper portion of said rst barrier plate means, whereby said first and second barrier plate means present a continuous surface for deflecting any falling material from said lower drum; a supply chute mounted on said casing in substantially spaced relation to the lowermost part of said conveyor means and terminating adjacent to said one side of said conveyor means; a discharge chute located adjacent to an upper part of said conveyor means; inclined barrier plate means located about said upper drum and communicating with said discharge chute so as to direct material falling from said conveyor means to said discharge chute; and brush means respectively mounted between said rst and inclined barrier plate means and said drum ends of said upperA and lower drums and contacting said drum ends so as to seal said drums from material falling from said conveyor means.

An elevator, comprising, in combination, a casing having a bottom wall; endless conveyor means having a lowermost part substantially spaced from said bottom wall, including a plurality of spaced buckets, and being mounted in said casing for movement with one side thereof upwardly along said casing and for movement with the other side thereof downwardly along said casing, whereby said buckets may scoop up material which accumulates on said bottom wall of said casing; an upper drum and a lower drum respectively mounted for rotation in upper and lower parts of said casing and within upper and lower parts of said endless conveyor means so as to guide the same in said casing, said drums each being substantially cylindrical and having opposite closed ends, said lower drum resting on said lower part of said endless conveyor means and being connected to bearings which are freely mounted in said casing so that said lower drum moves downwardly in said casing as said. endless conveyor means becomes elongated after a period of usage; first barrier plate means xedly connected to said bearings, enclosing the sides and an upper part of said lower drum, and being located just behind said one side of said conveyor means, whereby said rst barrier plate means prevents any material falling from said conveyor means from clogging therotation of said lower drum and whereby said rst barrier plate means is movable with said lower drum Y when said conveyor means becomes` elongated;
second barrier plate means lxedly` connected to said casing and also located just behind said `one side of said conveyor means, said second barrier plate means having a lower edge located in overlapping relationship with an upper portion of said first barrier plate means, whereby said iirst and second barrier plate-means present a continuous surface for defiecting any falling material from said lower drum; a supply chute mounted on said casing in substantially spaced relation to the lowermost part of said conveyor means and terminating adjacent to said one side of said conveyor means; a discharge chute located adjacent to an upper part of said conveyor means; .inclined barrier plate means located about said upper drum and communicating with said discharge chute so as to direct material falling from said conveyor means to said discharge chute; and brush means respectively mounted between said rst and inclined barrier plate means and said drum ends of said upper and lower drums and contacting said drum ends so as to seal said drums from material falling from said conveyor means.
