The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in files or holders for loose papers, such as bills, receipts and the like, and more particularly to a wall attached holder of this character.

An important object of the invention is to provide an upstanding pin on the front surface of a wall attached board and on which loose papers may be impaled together with a spring clamping device pivoted to the lower portion of the board for compressing the papers and holding the same in a compact form on the pin and against the board.

Another object of the invention is to provide means for removably attaching the clamping device to the board whereby the same may be easily and quickly removed to facilitate removal of the accumulated papers on the pin.

A still further object is to provide a paper file of this character of simple and practical construction, which is neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a front elevational view;

Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view taken substantially on a line 2-2 of Figure 1;

Figure 3 is a similar view showing the clamp removed from the board for removing the accumulated papers from the pin;

Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view taken substantially on a line i-4 of Figure 2; and

Figure 5 is a transverse sectional view of the clamping device taken substantially on a line 5-5 of Figure 2.

Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration I have dislosed a preferred embodiment of the invention, the numeral 5 designates a rigid board preferably of rectangular shape and having an opening 6 at its upper portion for hanging against a wall by means of a hook, nail or similar fastening device.

The back of the board is formed with a vertical groove 1 terminating at its opposite ends in upper and

lower openings

8 and 9 extending forwardly through the board.

A resilient wire pin designated generally at It includes a vertical intermediate portion l I seated in the groove 1 with an upper end [2 projecting forwardly through the upper opening 8 in the board and terminating in a hook l3 positioned forwardly of the board. The lower end M of the pin projects forwardly through the lower opening 9 in the board and is then bent upwardly in front of the board to provide an upstanding pointed end I5 which is normally sprung outwardly in front of hook 13 as shown in Figure 3 of the drawings and forced inwardly for engagement behind the hook !3 to close the pin in a position as shown in Figure 2,

Loose papers, such as bills, receipts and the like, may then be impaled on the upstanding pin 15 and moved downwardly on to the lower end portion M of the pin for positioning flatly against the front lower surface of the board 5.

The papers are held in a compressed compact relation against the board 5 by means of a clamp ing device designated generally at l6 and comprising a substantially inverted U-shaped resilient wire clamp ll having its end portions coiled as shown at It and pivoted on a pin l9 removably supported in a horizontal position at the lower portion of the board 5 in screw eyes 20 or the like. The terminal portions 2| of the coil springs 13 are bent rearwardly under the board 5 to hold the springs under tension and the springs exerting their influence on the clamping member I! to hold the same inwardly against the board 5.

The sides or leg portions of the U-shaped clamping member ll are held rigidly connected to each other by means of a metal plate 22 and which is notched as shown at 23 in its upper edge to prevent interference with the pin it).

The upper end of the clamping member I! is bent forwardly and downwardly to form a loop or handle 24.

As the loose papers are impaled on pin H), the handle 24 of clamp I6 is pulled forwardly to position the papers behind the clamp and the handle then released to compress the papers against the board 5.

When it is desired to remove the accumulated papers from the pin Hi, the pin I9 is withdrawn from screw eyes 20 and the clamp I6 removed whereupon the papers may be either pulled or torn from pin ill or moved upwardly on the pin IE! to remove the papers therefrom.

A pencil 25 is supported in clamps 26 at one side of board 5.

In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the construction, operation and advantages of the device 3 will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.

It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claims.

Having descriloedthe invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. A paper file comprising a rigid back having a paper filing pin projecting forwardly thereof, a spring actuated clamping member pivoted to the back adjacent the filing pin and including a substantially U-shaped resilient Wire member having leg portions positioned at oppositesides of the filing pin to engage papers on the pin, a spring coil at each end of the member having their axes at right angles to the leg portions of the wire member. and exerting, spring pressure on the leg portions to clamp the papers against the back; a forwardly projecting U-shaped wire handleunited with the leg portions of the wire member and positioned in straddling relation with the filing pin, and a removable hinge pin carried: by the back for the coils to release the clamping member from the papers while removing the papers from the filing pin.
