1 Claim.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in bath tubs designed particularly for use in house trailers, or other mobile equipment where space is limited.
An important object of the invention is to provide a bath tub of suitable size for positioning under a folding bunk or bed which is concealed by the bunk when the latter is lowered and the tub not in use and arranged whereby the tub may be used when the bunk is raised.
A further object of the invention is to provide easily adjustable feet for supporting the tub to adjust the tub in a level position when the trailer or other mobile equipment is resting on uneven ground.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a novel shower curtain and support for the tub.
A still further object is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view showing the tub covered by a folding bunk;
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the tub;
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on a line 33 of Figure 2;
Figure 4 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view of one of the adjustable feet or supports for the tub and taken on a line 44 of Figure 1;
Figure 5 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view taken on a line 55 of Figure 2 and showing one of the clamps for the shower curtain;
Figure 6 is a fragmentary side elevational view of the upper end of one of the adjustable standards for raising and lowering the curtain; and
Figure '7 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view of the adjustable standard and'showing the friction spring therein.
Referring now to the drawings in detail wherein for the purpose of illustration I have disclosed a preferred embodiment of the invention the numeral 5 designates a bath tub of substantially rectangular shape provided with a plurality of lugs 6 at its lower side edges.
Positioned immediately under each lug 6 is an adjustable support or leg I constructed of a section of tubing 8 having a flange 9 threaded at its lower end for resting on a floor or other supporting surface and a cap II is threaded on the upper end of the tube. A stud I2 is threaded at its lower end in the cap I I and the underside of lug 6 is formed with a recess I3 in which the 2 upper smooth end of the stud is rotatably received. A nut I4 is fixed to the stud and is formed with openings l5 to receive an adjusting rod or handle to turn'the nut whereby to raise and lower stud I2 and thus adjust the tub to maintain the same in a level position.
An internal shoulder I6 is formed around the upper edge of the tub and on which the lower edge of a shower curtain I I is clamped by means of a rod-like frame I8 resting on the shoulder and held in position by a plurality of clamping members I9 secured to the upper edge or rim of the tub by screws or the like 20.
The shower curtain I'I extends along all the four sides of the tub and is provided at its corners with rings 2I connected to rings 22 at the upper ends of telescoping standards 23 positioned at each corner of the tub and having flanged collars 24 at their lower ends resting on the floor, the upper and center sections of the standards being frictionally held in raised position by split rings 28.
One end of the tub is provided with a drain opening 25 to which a hose 26 is connected to 0 Number extend downwardly through the fioor It), or
, otherwise leading from the tub to drain the water therefrom. Water is supplied to the tub by means of faucet 29 at one end of the tub and to which a spray hose (not shown) may be attached.
The tub 5 is preferably positioned under a folding bunk or bed 21 of a type usually provided in house trailers so that the tub is normally concealed by the bunk when the bunk is lowered and the tub is available for use when the bunk is raised.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
In combination, a bath tub having an internal shoulder formed around the upper edge of the tub, a clamping frame above the shoulder, a curtain having its lower edge clamped on the shoulder by the frame, clamping members secured to the rim of the tub and holding said frame in clamping relation to said shoulder, and vertically adjustable standards supported outwardly of the tub and holding the upper edge of the curtain in a raised position.
