The present invention relates to a mixing machine.
It is an object of the invention to provide a mixing machine which permits an intensive working of the material to be mixed and the performing of difficult mixing and dissolving processes while requiring less input and shorter periods of treatment than the existing types of mixing machines adapted for such intensive and difiicult mixing and dissolving processes.
With this and further objects in view, according to the invention the real working of the composition is concentrated to one or a few points where a process similar to the milling, sawing, stamping or grinding of solid bodies takes place. The material to be mixed is continuously fed to the zone of treatment, with a low amount of mechanical power, by a revolving motion, whereby additional eifects promoting the mixing process are resulting.
The mixing machine according to the invention therefore comprises a rotary mixing body comprising a plurality of many-toothed side milling cutter elements and arranged in .a vessel or drum in such a way that their teeth pass through the gaps between the teeth of comb means. disposed in the vessel.
Other and further objects, features and advantages of the invention will be pointed out hereinafter and appear in the appended claims forming part of the application.
In the accompanying drawings several now preferred embodiments of the invention are shown by way of illustration and not by way of limitation.

Referring now to the drawingsin greater detain, in which similar reference numerals denote like parts, it will be seen that the rotary mixing drum or vessel 1 has attached to its bottom a pivot 2 mounted for rotation in the machine frame 3. The vessel is drivenby a. motor 4 whose shaft 5 bears a bevel wheel 6 meshing with a bevel wheel I mounted onthe pivot 2. Secured on the machine frame 3, above the 'freely through is fed to the working zone by the teeth of the oscillating motion of the feed roller vessel 1, is a gear box 8. The mixing tool 9 disposed in the vessel or drum l consists of a plurality of cutter discs l0 secured on a hollow shaft 12 in a spaced relationship and rotating therewith. The hollow shaft 12 is driven from a motor I3 through a pair of bevel wheels [4. Arranged on both sides of the mixing tool 9 are two comb bodies 15 and I6 secured to the under side of the bottom of the gear box 8, in such a way that the teeth of the cutter discs l0 pass the gaps or grooves of the comb bodies, thereby feeding the material into the grooves, for intensive working thereof during its passage through the grooves, between the walls of the grooves and the surfaces of the teeth. The grooves ll of the comb body l5 are made wider than the grooves l8 of the comb body 16. Arranged before the comb body l5, at a certain distance therefrom, is a feed roller l9 eccentrically mounted on its shaft 20 and driven by the hollow shaft l2 through a pair of spur wheels 2|, thus rotating in an opposite direction of the mixing tool 9. Owing to the eccentric arrangement ofthe feed roller distance from the mixing tool changed.
Passed through the hollow shaft I2 is a shaft 23 extending from the gear box 8 and driven by a motor 22, said shaft 23 bearing on its end downwardly protruding from the hollow shaft an angulafly bent driver 24, 25. The horizontal part 24 of the driver passes over the bottom of the vessel, as a stripping member, while its upright arm 25 revolves concentrically about the mixing system consisting of the mixing tool 9 and the comb bodies l5, 16. Also secured to the gear box 8 of the machine frame is a wall stripper 26 projecting into the vessel and deflecting the material from the shell of the vessel. A socket 21 with a rotary slide valve 28 is provided for discharging the vessel. As will be seen from Fig. l, the mixing tool 9 and the driver 25 rotate in the same direction while the feed roller l9 rotates in an opposite direction. The material kept in a revolving motion by the rotary vessel by the feed roller, and entrained through the grooves of the comb body mixing tool. An efficient feed even of lumpy material to the comb body 15, as indicated by the flow lines 29, is ensured by the IS and the revolving driver 25. There will pass less material through the narrower grooves of the comb body It; than through the wider grooves of the 9 is periodically H] on its shaft, its
comb body l5, so that a part of the material will be discharged into the space within the vessel, as indicated by the flow lines 30.
In the modification shown in Fig. 3 a suitable number of comb bodies I are arranged at the inside of the shell of the vessel, only one of these comb bodies being shown. The mixing tool 9 in this case is disposed adjacent to the shell of the vessel, as shown.
Fig. 4 shows a further modification of the machine similar to that shown in Fig. 2. In this case two corresponding comb systems l5, l6 are arranged in such a way that each of the two comb bodies I5 is supplied from one of the two feed rollers l9, 19" which are arranged in such a way that the feed roller l9 disposed at the upper side in the drawing serves mainly to supply the material from the marginal zone of the mixing vessel to the appertaining comb I5 while the feed roller I 9" disposed at the lower side in the drawing will feed mainly the material circulating in the inner zone of the mixing vessel.
While the invention has been described in detail with respect to certain now preferred examples and embodiments of the invention it will be understood by those skilled in the art after understanding the invention, that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention and it is intended. therefore, to cover all such changes and modifications in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. In a mixing machine, a mixing vessel, a plurality of comb bodies disposed in the mixing vessel, and a rotary mixing body in the form of a side milling cutter mounted in the vessel so that its teeth pass between the teeth of the comb bodies which are arranged in pairs in such a way that each pair is arranged in a spaced relationship and forms a system, the front comb body in relation to the direction of rotation of the mixing body having wider gaps between its teeth than the succeeding comb body of each pair.
2. In a mixing machine, a mixing vessel, comb means disposed in the vessel, a rotary mixing body in the form of a side milling cutter arranged in the vessel in such a Way that its teeth pass between the teeth of the comb means, a feed roller arranged in front of the comb means and in a spaced relationship with respect to the mixing body, and means for rotating said feed roller in a direction opposite of the mixing body.
3. In a mixing machine, a mixing vessel, two comb members disposed in the vessel, a rotary mixing body in the form of at least one side milling cutter arranged in the vessel in such a way that its teeth pass through the gaps between the teeth of the comb members, and two feed rollers each associated to one of the comb members, the first feed roller feeding the material to be mixed from the inner zone of the vessel to the working zone where the first comb member cooperates with the mixing body while the second feed roller feeds the material from the marginal zone of the vessel to a second working zone where the second comb member cooperates with the mixing body.
4. In a mixing machine, a mixing vessel, comb means disposed in the vessel, a rotary mixing body in the form of a side milling cutter arranged in the vessel in such a way that its teeth pass between the teeth of the comb means, and a driving arm rotating concentrically around the comb means.
5. In a mixing machine, a rotary mixing vessel, comb means disposed in the vessel, a rotary mixing body in the form of a side milling cutter arranged in the vessel in such a way that its teeth pass between the teeth of the comb means, and a feed roller arranged in frontof the comb means and in a spaced relationship with respect to the mixing body, said feed roller rotating in direction opposite of the mixing body and the vessel.
6. In a mixing machine, a mixing vessel, comb means disposed in the vessel, a hollow shaft in the vessel, a rotary mixing body formed by a plurality of side milling cutters mounted on said hollow shaft in a spaced relationship and arranged in the vessel in such a way that their teeth pass between the teeth of the comb means, a second shaft passing through said hollow shaft and being separately driven, and an angularly bent driving arm mounted on the downwardly projecting end of the second shaft and revolving concentrically around the comb means, the driving arm having a horizontal part, which passes as a stripping member over the bottom of the vessel.
7. In a mixing machine, a mixing vessel, comb means disposed in the vessel, a hollow shaft in the vessel, a rotary mixing body formed by a plurality of side milling cutters mounted on said hollow shaft in a spaced relationship and arranged in the vessel in such a way that their teeth pass between the teeth of the comb means, a second shaft passing through said hollow shaft and being separately driven, an angularly bent driving arm mounted on the downwardly projecting end of the second shaft and revolving concentrically around the comb means, a feed roller for delivering the material to the inlet side of the comb means, and a pair of spur wheels for driving the feed roller from the hollow shaft.
8. In a mixing machine, a mixing vessel, comb means disposed in the vessel, a rotary mixing body in the form of a side milling cutter arranged in the vessel in such a way that its teeth pass between the teeth of the comb means, a feed roller shaft and a feed roller eccentrically mounted on said feed roller shaft, in front of the comb means and in a spaced relationship with respect to the mixing body, said feed roller rotating in direction opposite of the mixing body.
