This'invention relates to a'paper liner forbeer,
'milkorsoft drink casesor'thelike.
An object of the invention'is to provide-a paper linerfor cases of the above mentioned type, that scribed claimed; and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention showing the mannerin which it is lifted from a beer case or the like;{',
Figure 2 isa plan view of the blank from which the device is formed;
Figure 3 is a detailed perspective view of the scored portion on which each bottle will rest;
Figure 4 is a plan view of a partially filled beer case or the like, partly broken away and partly in section, to show the bottom of the case;
Figure 5 is a sectional view on the line 5--5 of Figure 4;
Figure 6 is a sectional view on the line 66 of Figure 4, and
Figure 7 is a fragmentary perspective view, partly in section, of the liner and case. M
Referring more in detail to the drawings, the reference numeral 10 designates a beer case or the like in which the liner H embodying the invention is adapted to be positioned.
Cases of the type usually used for containing beer bottles or the like comprise a wooden frame composed of side walls I2 and end walls I3. The end walls I3 each are provided with hand grip openings M, by means of which the case is conveniently carried. i
In this instance, the case is provided with a metal bottom 15, having relatively spaced circular openings 16 therein, which are of a size slightly larger than the bottles that are to be placed in the case.
The liner l l comprising the invention is formed from the blank shown in Figure 2. This blank, when properly shaped by bending, will comprise ends I! and a bottom Hi. The ends I! are provided with hand grip openings I9 whichare to be usedin lifting the liner, as shown in Figure 1.
The bottom l8, onits lower surface, is provided with circular recesses 20, and these recesses are of a size :to conform to the size of the openings l 6 in the bottom 15.
When the liner H is placed in the case, the recesses 20 and openings 1-6 will aline themselves, one with the other, so that the liner will accomplish the objects of the invention previously set forth.
The upper-surface of the bottom .I 8 iscu't along the several lines 2 I, toform V-shaped sections 22, and these sections provide bottle locating recesses for receiving the bottles 23, as shown in Figures 5 and 6.
The liner or liners 'II are placed in the case H1 according to the size of the case, as shown in the various figures. A separator or partition 24 is placed between each liner, and the conventional web 25 will be placed in each liner to divide the case intoindivi'dual compartments. The web 25, as is the usualcustom, extends from the bottom of the case to a point slightly above the half-way mark in the case, to prevent the bottles from striking each other and damaging them by breakage or the like.
The liner II is made of a material that will permit the bottles to pass through the sections and recesses in the bottom thereof, and then permit the sections to spring back into place after the bottle has placed through.
In use, the liners are placed in the case, the
separator and webs are placed in position, and
the bottles placed in the individual compartments formed by the webs.
The sections 22 are strong enough to support each bottle as the case or liner is carried, but a slight downward pressure on the bottle will force the bottle through the sections.
In placing the case in-a cooler, the whole case may be placed therein or a liner may be removed from the case and Placed in the cooler. The bottles are pressed downward for a slight distance as shown in Figure 1 by raising one end of the liner with one handand pressing the adjacent bottles downwardly with the other, and then raising the other end of the liner with one hand and pressing the-remaining bottles downwardly, then by shaking the case of the liner, the bottles will drop from the liner or case into the cooler.
The liner provides a quick and convenient means for placing the bottles in a cooler, or otherwise carrying the bottles to a place at which the bottles are to 'be deposited.
The liner can be made of a heavy cardboard Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new-and desired to be secured "by v Letters Patent is:
1. In a bottle case of the type described, having a bottom structure provided with a plurality of relatively spaced circular openings, a liner in said case, V-shaped sections in said liner overlying said openings, slits outlining said sections so that a bottle resting on said sections ma be pushed therethrough outwardly of the bottom through the openingstherein.
2. In a bottle case of the type described having a bottom structure provided with a plurality of relatively spaced circular openings, the improvement comprising a liner in said case and said liner comprising a rectangular shaped blank hav- 7 ing a bottom portion and oppositely disposed end portions, circular recesses in the lower surface that a bottle resting on said V-shaped sections may be pushed therethrough outwardly of the bottom through the openings therein.
3. The combination of a bottle case having a bottom structure provided with a plurality of relatively spaced circular openings and a liner comprising a fiat U-shaped sheet of material 7 with hand openingsin the upper parts of the ends, and a filler for positioning bottles on the liner, said liner having a plurality of recesses with radially disposed slits therein registering with the positions of bottles on the liner and providing means whereby bottles may be pressed through the liner, and the openings in the bottom of the case outwardly thereof.
l. The combination of a bottle case having a bottom structure provided with a plurality of relatively spaced circular openings and a liner comprising a rectangular-shaped sheet of material formed with an intermediate section and with the ends extending upwardly and having hand openings in the upwardly extending ends of the ends, the intermediate portion of the liner having spaced bottle receiving openings with inwardly extending flaps in the openings adapted to support bottles on the liner, and wherein the bottles pass through the openings with slight pressure, to move outwardly of the openings in the bottom of the case.
