The one end of the channel 32 is formed arcuately to complement the peripheral curvature of the plates 25, but the other end of the channel is formed at right angles to the length thereof and is closed by cars 33 formed off the side walls of the channel. The cars 33 are provided with aligned holes 34 located on a line tangential with the pulley track 26. Thus the upper leg of rope l extends from said pulley track through said holes in a straight line.
The construction is such that as the lower leg of line In is reeled in to remove the articles of wash therefrom, the clips 15 travel-around the pulley track 26 between the side plates 25 and into the inverted channel 32. The first clip I abuts the closed end of channel 32 and is prevented from riding out on to the upper leg of the line. Thus the said clips are conveniently stored within the said channel and the line need not be reeled back and forth to collect all of the clips. Further the said clips are protected from the elements within the channel.
The mounting of channel 32 on the ends of the arms of yoke 14 provides for the rocking of said channel about the pulley I3 as the position of the center portion of line H3 is varied by the weight of clothes hung thereon.
A modified form of the invention is illustrated injFigs. 7-9 wherein like parts are given the same reference numerals as hereinbeiore with a prime added. In this form of the invention the side walls of channel 32 are provided each with a depending extension 35 whose one edge is a continuation of the arcuate end edge of the channel side wall. The other vertical edge of each extension 35 flares outward as it extends downwar asbest shown in Figs. 8 and 9.
The construction is such that the outwardly flared extensions 35 form a sort of funnel to guide angularly mispositioned clips between the plates While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
