Description

(No Model.) T Y W. T. KOSINSKI.
' DEVIOE FOR CONVERTING REOIPROOATINGINTO ROTARY MOTION.
No. 257,874. 7 4 PatentedMay16, 1882.
UNITED STATES ATENT OFFICE,
WLaDYSLAW T. KOSINSKI, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
DEVlCE FOR CONVERTING RECIPROCATING INTO ROTARY MOTION.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 257,874, dated May 16, 1882.
Application filed October 18 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WLADYSLAW T. Kosnv SKI, of Brooklyn, Kings county, State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Devices for Converting Reciprocating into Rotary Motion, whichimprovementisfully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a plan view. Fig. 2 represents a side view. Fig. 3 represents a vertical cross-section of the same; Fig. 4 repre sents a detail view of the lever, showing the serrations.
The object ofmy invention is to convert reciprocating into rotary motion by means here- G, is serrated on the face abutting against the collar, the object of the serration being the positive engagement of the collar and prevention of slipof motion. I
E is a springof flat steel. Its heel is riveted to the lever, and the other or free end is bifurcated on each side, in order to come or be in contact with the circumferential face of the planchets D.
In using the device, and in order to obtain the rotary motion of the shaft or stock in one and the same direction, it is simply necessary to grasp the lever and press it toward the operator, which will give the said stock or shaft a. partial rotation, and in order to continue the revolution the grip of the lever on the collar is released by the reverse motion of the lever, when a new grip is obtained and the rotation of the shaft continued. During the interval of renewing the grip on the collar the spring holds the stock or shaft in the position obtained by the preceding forward motion of the lever.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The above-described device for converting rotary into reciprocating motion, consisting of a shaft or stock to which rotary motion is applied by means of a serrated lever, planchets rotating or having free motion around the shaft or stock, which are connected with the lever, and a spring for assisting in the production of said motion, substantially as described.
W. T. KosmsKI,
