2 Claims. (Cl. 2486) This invention relates to detachable type of fabric holders mountable along a support for the sheet fabric to be suspended therefrom.

This invention has utility when incorporated in cooperating oppositely thrustable points for curtain and drapery engagement including therewith a hook slidable along a supporting bar to provide for ready adjustment of the curtain or other hanging, say as to a door or window.

Referring to the drawings:

Fig. 1 is a fragmentary side elevation from the room interior or normally exposed side of a drapery assembled with a support by multipoint holders of the invention;

Fig. 2 is a side elevation of one of the holders of Fig. l; and

Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the primary thrust point carrying element of the holder.

A drapery hanging I may from its top 2 have on its inner or shielded face side a fold-down portion 3 to a stitching 4. This assembly is designed to be located along a rigid support 5, say as in position above a window or door inside a dwelling. The invention herein has to do with readily attachable and detachable holders for suspending the hanging as to the support and therealong as desired, While readily taken down therefrom and cleared of the hanging as occasion may arise for cleaning or other attention to such hanging.

The holder is herein shown as a two-part device comprising a strap portion 6 and a wire inter-fitting portion 1, each of which may be of metal. The flat strap 6 may be in the range of .028" and stiff and the wire 1 around .072 diameter and also sufficiently stiff to hold to form.

The strap or part 6 is formed with a longitudinally extending slot or intermediate guideway 8 spaced back somewhat from major points 9 at one end between which points is a thrustlimiting recess, seat or how ID. The strap 6 remote from its end point means 9 has a shoulder or offset H to a rounded end l2 having an opening is centrally therethru as a guide or keep.

The cylindrical second element of the device or wire-like part I has a tapered end or point I4, adapted to register with the opening [3. The straight portion of the wire I from the point l4 extends along directly adjacent the strap 6 between the slot 8 and the shoulder ll. At the slot 8, the wire I has a return bend intermediate connecting portion 15 to a straight portion l approximately parallel to the portion 1. From this portion I6, there is an offset of approximately 45 as a hook-widening section I! to a bend IS with a down section l9 to an inturned end 20 as the wire terminus remote from the point It.

The housewife, or one undertaking to place a drapery hanging, may take the fabric I and at the fold 3 jab the point 9 into engagement to the region of the recess 19. At this operation, the point I4 is retracted into but not clear of the opening l3. This position may be determined by the bend l5 riding along the slot 8 to a slight inward lug 2! providing a stop. In practice it may be desirable to have the slot 8 coact thruout its full length with the bend l5 for effecting assembly of the point 14 to register in the opening [3. However, upon completion of this assembly, and as a precaution against the strap 6 and the wire I being pulled apart, the lug or stop 2| is formed along the slot 8 in such position that the wire straight portion 1 still retains from the bend l5, at least the tip of the point I4 in the opening I3. The rounded end !2 is then pressed against the fabric fold 3 to form a fabric ledge 22 and the point M in now being thrust thru the opening I3 penetrates the ledge 22 providing a second point engagement or holding region spaced from the points 9. In this operation, the bend I5 rides along the slot 8 to the upper end of such slot, and is normally held in such position by locating the hook l5, l6, l1, l8, I9, 20, on the support 5.

As a fabric engaging holder, there may be varied fields of use, especially about the household, having to do with furniture and upholstery, as well as hangings. The practice preferred is to have the strap element 6 relatively stiff against flexing. However, the pin stem 1 may be of some yield in its general spring steel wire structure. In some practice, this yield or bowing may permit disengagement from the strap, as Well as engagement therewith, due to slight bowing away from the strap 6 for the point M to leave or enter the opening 13 as the bend I5 is at its remote position in the slot 8 from the offset l2. From this experience it follows, that in lieu of the stop 2|, such may be omitted and the spring action of bowing of the stem 1 adopted for the set-up and as occasion may arise for disconnection. The normal handling is for the two-part holder to retain its assembly.

By adopting the point pair or U-shaped end 9, [0, there may be manufacturing economy, in that the stamping-out cut may sharpen the points 9. Additionally, the offset l2 may be the cut-out from between the arms to the points 9, for the offset rounded end or tip [2 to come from the seat I9.

What is claimed and it is desired to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A two-part holder, one part including point means at one end and a keep means at an oppositely extending remote other end and an intermediate guideway, and the other part including a hook, a point and an intermediate portion, said other part intermediate portion being slidable in the guideway to direct its point to coact with the keep means in a direction oppositely to a the direction of said point means.
