Description

May 22, 1951 E. SOKOLIK 2,554,068
SYRINGING APPLIANCE Filed May 19, 1948 INVENTOR.
Patented May 22, 1951 SYRINGING APPLIANCE Edward Sokolik, New Brighton, Minn.
Application May 19, 1948, Serial No. 27,899
3 Claims.
My present invention relates to improvements in vaginal-rectal syringing appliances of the class disclosed in my co-pending application for a Therapeutic Appliance Ser. No. 658,283 filed March 29, 1946, and which has become abandoned, and the object of the invention is to provide a combined coupler and stub-handle structure, whereby to couple the nozzle and the hose so that the outlet end of the lower endportion of the hose is, in use, in a substantially depending position, thereby eliminating looping of said lower end-portion or" the hose in the flush bowl, and consequently the soiling and collapsing thereof in the loop, and whereby to apply the nozzle sanitarily and with facility.
Invention resides in the combination, construction, arrangement, shaping and adapting of the combined coupler and stub-handle structure.
These and other objects and advantages will be apparent as the specification proceeds.
In the accompanying drawings:
Fig. 1 is an elevation of one embodiment of my structure, and
Fig. 2 is an elevation with a fragmentary section of another embodiment of the structure.
Fig. 1 illustrates an embodiment comprising a combined coupler and stub-handle structure 3 consisting of an elbow-shaped portion 4 adapted to be preferably detachably connected to the nozzle 6 and to carry the same, in use, in an upright position, and a stub-handle portion 5, so constructed, shaped and arranged to avoid being contaminated by the hush and to be conveniently and comfortably held in the palmof the hand and maneuvered underneath the seat I of and within the flush bowl 9 to facilitate application of the nozzle. In this embodiment the elbow-shaped portion 4 and the stub-handle portion have a common fluid conduit passing therethrough and communicating at the shank 1, with the conduit of the hose 8 and with the conduit of the nozzle 0 at the connecting end thereof. The elbow portion 4 and/or the handle portion 5 preferably should be of material having some resiliency.
In the embodiment Fig. 2, like numerals primed designate like parts, and a further advantage is gained by connecting the hose 8' dimath; to the shank I in the concavity of the elbow-shaped portion 4, which has the conduit 12 passing therethrough and communicating with the conduit of the nozzle 6', This arrangement greatly increases the utility of the structure 3 since it leaves the stub-handle portion 5 free and the hose 8' does not interfere with the seat 10.
Further variations are possible within the scope and concept of the invention without departing from the merits of the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. A vaginal-rectal syringing appliance for use in combination with a liquid supply and a flexible tubular conduit connected thereto, the appliance including an elongated nozzle having an inlet end and an outlet end, a handle connected at one end. to the inlet end of the nozzle and having a free end gradually curving from the inlet end of the nozzle through an angle of more than ninety degrees so that when the nozzle is held vertically with the outlet end uppermost the free end of the handle will incline upwardly and the lowest portion of the handle will be relatively nearer to the connected end of the handle, a passage through a portion of the handle communicating with the inlet end of the nozzle, said passage terminating near the connected end of the handle, and above the free end of the handle, and connecting means connecting said passage and the tubular conduit.
2. The structure defined in claim 1 and in which the connecting means comprises a hollow projection communicating with said passage and constructed to be encircled by the tubular conduit.
3. The structure described in claim 1 and in which the connecting means extends from the connected end of the handle in the same general direction as the free end of the handle but above the same.
