Application December 23, 19%, Serial No. 717,828 1 Claim. (C1. 27s- 119) The object of our invention is to provide a novel combined ash tray and miniature bowling game in which the ash tray may -be used to greater advantage at the same time the game is being played inasmuch as the tray remains in a fixed position while the ball is being set in motion; and also to provide a device of this character in which it is easier to actuate the ball, which is accomplished by twirling the upright centerniece.
We attain the objects of our invention by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which- Figure 1 is a top plan view of the invention;
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of same tilted at right angles to its normal position to save space on the drawing sheet; and
Fig. 3 is a vertical section through the center of the device, the center-piece being shown complete except for a small broken-away portion to show the depth of the recesses at its base.
Like characters of reference indicate like parts in each of the severa1 views.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, we provide an ash tray l having an outwardly slanting surface 2 bearing score-card markings. At the center of the ash tray is a center-piece in the form of a bowling pin 4, which is encircled by a series of ten recesses 6 each having the outline of a bowling pin and each bearing a numeral, such as the numerals 5 shown on Fig. 3 of the drawings. A transparent plate or ring 3 of glass or plastic surrounds the bowling pin 4 and rests on the circular wall l2 which constitutes the inner wall of the annular ash tray I0. The bowling pin 4 may be any upright, cylindrical object which may be revolved. At the base of the bowling pin are correspondingly positioned recesses or indentations 'l aligned with the recesses 6 and against any of which the miniature bowling ball B may rest. The bowling pin 4 is loosely mounted on the central pin 9 which is inserted from the bottom of the tray, as shown in Fig. 3. The base of the game device is flat In this device the ash tray does not have to be lifted from the table or tilted but the ball is set in motion by the center-piece 4 and stops in one of the recesses 1 corresponding to the like position recess 6 on the upper portion of the bowling pin 4. The outer wall 2 of the ash tray bears numerals I l, which designate the play that has been made.
What we claim is: i A game device comprising a horizontally disposed open top cylindrical receptacle, the bottcm of said receptacle sloping gently downwardly from the side wall of said receptacle toward the u.) center, a simulated bowling pin positioned Vertically and centrally within the receptacle and having its upper end projecting upwardly above the top of said receptacle and having its lower end resting on said bottom and mounted thereon 20 for rotation about a vertical axis, said bowling pin adjacent its lower end being provided with recesses arranged circumferentially, a ball freely positioned in said receptacie and 4resting on the bottom thereof adapted to roll into any one of 25 said recesses, and a transparent cover provided at I3 but has an upwardly slanting surrounding 4 surface I4 which forms a track and which at its outside part has a 5 percent higher elevation than the center of the bottom part on which the bowlving pin or cylindrical object 4 rests.
with a central opening positioned on the top of said receptacle with the upper end of said bowling pin projecting through said opening whereby said bowling pin may be manually rotated, said i bowling pin being provided with scoring indicia above said recesses'.
