HERBERT F. w. KRUG.
HTTORNEY.
Patented Apr. 3, 1951 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE WATCHMAKERS TRAY Herbert F. W. Krug, Detroit, Mich.
Application November 1, 1947, Serial No. 783,530
1 Claim.
This invention relates to watchmakers trays,
the object being to provide a tray having a, unique form and provided with recesses in the surface in which small parts may be positioned and additional recesses are provided in its surface for oil and a slidable cover is provided for said recesses to prevent an accumulation of dust thereon and is further recessed to provide a groove spaced from and parallel with the respective side ends to prevent small parts from rolling o the tray.
These and other objects and features of the invention are hereinafter more fully described and claimed and a watchmakers tray embodying my invention is shown in the accompanying drawing in Which- Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the tray.
Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof.
Fig. 3 is a section taken on line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a section taken on line 4-4 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a section taken on line 5-5 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 6 is a section taken on line 6 6 of Fig. 2.
The watchmakers tray embodying my invention comprises a rectangular body I having a groove 2 adjacent rthe side and end walls providing a central surface 3. This surface has recesses 4, 5, 6, l, 8, 9 and I0. The recess 6 is provided with a removable cover II and the recesses 8, 9 and I0 have a cover I2 the end portions of which ride in grooves I3 and I IlA to permit the cover member IZto be moved to expose the recesses 8, 9 and I0 which contain oil. The recess 'I may contain other parts such as shafts or the like. The end 2a of the peripheral groove 2 is of greater width than other portions thereof in which various tools may be positioned.
By the described character and arrangement of parts of a watchmakers tray embodying my invention the various structural parts of a Watch or a clock may be maintained in the respective recesses provided therefor and the cover members II and I2 prevent accumulation of dust on the oil therein.
Preferably the recess 6 has a shoulder I5V on which the edge of the cover II may seat and prevents accidental displacement oi the cover (Cl. 20G-72) 2 member I I. The end wall I2a of the cover member I2 is of less width than the side walls I2?) and occupies practically the same plane as the upper surface 3 of the body I. This arrangement permits the cover member to b e moved in the slots I3 and I4.
By the described character and relationship of parts provision is made for maintaining the various parts of a Watch or other time piece in the specific recesses provided therefor which results in the saving of time of the user in the securing of a desired part required in assembling the parts of a time piece.
Having thus briefly described my invention, Vits utility, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A watchmakers tray comprising a rectangular body having formed therein adjacent its side and end walls a continuous groove of substantially rectangular cross section, the groove adjacent one end of the body being of greater width than the remainder of said groove, the portion of said tray within said continuous groove being a plane surface having formed therein a plurality of spaced circular recesses of different diameters and a row of recesses of the same diameter, said body having formed therein adjacent opposite ends of said row of recesses a pair of parallel spaced slots, greater in length than the diameter of said latter recesses, and a hollow rectangularly shaped cover for said row of recesses, with itsside walls resting upon said plane surface and with its end Walls extending downwardly into said spaced slots whereby said cover maybe slid therein to uncover said row of recesses.
