WINE SERVICE TRAY Filed Dec. 18, 1945 Inventor Ffqyd (Zy'l Z'ord,
24mm My Patented Mar. 13, 1 951 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE WINE SERVICE TRAY Floyd Clifiord, Gloversville, N. Y.
Application December 18, 1945, Serial No. 635,704
4 Claims.
The invention relates to a bottle service tray, an object of which is to provide a device designed especially for serving champagne or other bottled beverages in a cooled, protected mamier.
A further object of this invention is to provide a combined bottle holder and cooling device, having means for retaining a bottle and for retaining cracked ice in indirect or direct contact with the outer surface of the bottle.
Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawing in which:
Figure 1 is an elevational view Of the invention showing the tray in hidden outline,
Figure 2 is a plan view of the structure of the present invention with parts broken away, and
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of the tray and well taken substantially along the plane of line 33 of Figure 2.
In the accompanying drawings, ll indicates a tray upon the center of which is provided a well l2, for containing ice. To the outer wall I 3 of the well are attached opposing handles l4 and I5. Spaced within the well is concentrically disposed a cylindrical wall It, forming a receptacle for a wine bottle. As shown, the wall Ni, is imperforate, however, the same may be formed of perforated material in order that the ice in the well IE, or the ice water formed thereby may directly contact the bottle of wine held therein, it being of course understood that any such perforations will not be of sufficient size to permit other than very fine particles of ice to pass the'rethrough in order that a firm seat l1, may be had for the bottle. It is also to be understood that the member i2, may be formed integral with the bottom wall N5, of the said tray 1 I.
Of course, changes in details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.
Having now described the invention that which is claimed to be new and desired to be procured by Letters Patent is:
l. A bottle cooling and serving device comprising a supporting tray, a cylindrical bottle retaining member centrally secured on said tray and extending upwardly from said tray perpendicular thereto, an outer cylindrical member concentrically disposed about said bottle retaining member and fixed to said supporting tray, said outer cylindrical member being spaced outwardly from said bottle retaining member to define an annular ice retaining compartment therebetween, said bottle retaining member and outer cylindrical member having upper open ends terminating in the same horizontal plane and handles extending outwardly from the outer surface of said outer member.
2. A bottle cooling and serving device comprising a supporting tray, a cylindrical inner shell centrally disposed on said tray and extending upwardly therefrom and perpendicular thereto for receiving the lower end of a bottle, an outer cylindrical shell concentrically disposed about said inner shell and extending upwardly from said tray to define an annular ice retaining compartment therebetween, said inner and outer shells having bottom walls integrally superimposed on the tray and having upper open coplaner ends and a pair of handles integrally extending from the outer surface of said outer shell.
3. A bottle cooling and serving device comprising a supporting tray, a diametrically reduced annular supporting member superimposed on said tray, an outer cylindrical shell extending upwardly from the circumferential edge of said member, and disposed perpenciular to said mem her, an inner cylindrical shell vertically disposed on said member and spaced inwardly from said outer wall to retain ice between its outer surface and the outer wall, said inner and outer shells having a common bottom wall integrally superimposed on the tray and having upper open ends terminating in the same horizontal plane, and integral handles laterally extending from the outer surface of said outer shell.
4. A bottle cooling and serving device comprising a supporting tray, an annular bottom wall centrally superimposed integrally on said tray, an inner cylindrical wall vertically extending from the bottom wall, an outer cylindrical wall concentrically disposed about the inner wall and extending vertically from the circumferential edge of the bottom wall, said inner and outer walls being laterally spaced and having upper open ends terminating in the same horizontal plane, and integral handle carrying members laterally extending from the outer surface of said outer wall.
