To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACOB Krrz, of Neuschleussig, near Leipsic, in the Empire of Germany, have invented anew and useful Improvement in Circular Saws, (for which I made application for Letters Patent in Germany on or about the 6th day of October, 1880,) of which the following is a specification.
The nature of my invention consists in arranging or securing the saw-blade to a ring fitted over a hub securely attached to the axis, said ring being arranged to turn around suitable journals attached to the hub and secured in any desired diagonal position by suitable screws, whereby a groove of any desired width may be cut into the wood according to the diagonal position of the ring and saw-blade to the axis.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a front view of a circular saw embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the same. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section, showing the saw-blade square to the axis; and Fig. 4 is a horizontal section, showing the saw-blade placed diagonal to the axis.

A is the axis, upon which a hub, B, is firmly attached. This hub is provided with two pro- 0 jecting pins or journals, 0 O, opposite each other.
D is a ring made in two parts, between which the saw-blade E is firmly secured, and
provided with suitable holes, into which the round the pins or journals. The two halves forming the ring D are secured together by suitable screws, 1).
On one side of the ring D a lug or projection, F, is provided at right angles to the center line of the journals 0, through which a suitable screw,G,passes,screwinginto the hub B, by means of which the diagonal position of the ring D and saw-blade E can be regulated.
J J are set-screws, arranged to act against the pins or journals 0 O, or against their surrounding brasses, to secure and fasten the ring and saw-blade in the desired position.
Whenever the saw-blade is secured square to the driving-axis, as shown in Fig. 3, the groove cut into the wood will be of a width corresponding with the thickness of the sawblade in the usual'manner.
When a wider groove should be desired, the
saw-blade is secured,-in the manner above described, diagonal to the axis A, as shown-in Fig. 4, when the width of the groove to be out into the wood will depend upon the diagonal position of the saw-blade in relation with the axis A.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In combination with a hub, B, firmly secured to adriving-shat't, A, and provided with projecting pins or journals 0 G, the ring D, with saw blade E, the screw G, and set-screws J J, constructed and arranged to operate in the manner and for the purpose substantially as described.
